Posted on 05/31/2007 11:52:30 AM PDT by Greg F

FLORIDA — I just spoke to a staffer in Bill Nelson’s office. He indicated Nelson was leaning against the amnesty bill in present form. Please call Nelson and tell him you are against the amnesty if you are a Florida resident.1-800-417-7666. (English number)is a great number to use . . . it will direct you straight to your Senators . . . and it is a call paid for by supporters of the bill : )

This would be a change for Nelson, who leans pro-Amnesty

Now, Senator Illegal Alien (Mel Martinez)...he is a hopeless cause. That Hispano-Centric aint gonna budge

I will give Nelson a call

People in FL will vote for Nelson no matter what position he takes, but they may send that “Mel” into speedy retirement in 2010 if he dares to run again.

Means nothing.

Might be a Dem code word for being “against” the move in the ill defined future from chain migration to skills migration (like Canada’s), a subject off most people’s radar.

"People in FL will vote for Nelson no matter what position he takes,..."

I'm in Florida and I don't vote for him.

Time to let Nelson know, NO AMNESTY, ENFORCE THE BORDER, ENFORCE THE LAW(ETL)so far so good.

Heritage is running Florida radio spots highlighting the costs to tax payers. May be in other areas as well.

YES!!! I have called his office EVERY DAY for the last two weeks...had some interesting conversations with his staff, and I have detected a decided change in tone from my first calls. They are actually asking questions- why do I think this or that...and seem to listen to the answers.

What gets me is how the Democrats aren’t totally embracing this idiotic amnesty deal in order to split the Republican party in two. W has really screwed his base and if this were to actually become law (which it won’t), the Conservatives would defect in droves from the Republican party and split the vote in 2008, basically handing the Dems the White House, Senate, and House. Thank goodness they don’t have very good stategery.

Hey now baby, get into my big black car
Hey now baby, get into my big black car
I wanna just show you what my politics are.

I’m a political man and I practice what I preach
I’m a political man and I practice what I preach
So don’t deny me baby, not while you’re in my reach.

I support the left, tho’ I’m leanin’, leanin’ to the right
I support the left, tho’ I’m leanin’ to the right
But I’m just not there when it’s coming to a fight.

Hey now baby, get into my big black car

I live in Florida — I’ll call Nelson and tell him I’m against amnesty. Thanks for the number.

He indicated Nelson was leaning against the amnesty bill in present form.

The key words are........’in present form’. An amendment here, an amendment there and whoala!!! It will be acceptible and he will think is vote is duckable.
Don’t let them off the hook that easily.

I spoke with their office the other day too, and got the same impression. But Nelson is a weasel and I’ve had his office indicate they were for/against a certain bill and then vote just the opposite. I think they tell you what you want to hear while you’re on the phone.

I have absolutely no hope that Bill Nelson will be persuaded to go against the “conventional wisdom” in this matter of forging “bipartisan unity”.

Neslon is the stupidest excuse for a Senator we have ever had down here, he can’ even spell Amnesty.

I don’t see how anyone can “lean against amnesty.” I suspect he did not concede that this is an amnesty bill.
