Dubya............................nephew
Kenny is on his third tour. Thanks for prayers and support for him.
GREAT song, Beth. Thanks for sharing it.
Three men are sitting stiffly side by side on a long commercial flight.
After they're airborne and the plane has leveled off, the man in the window seat abruptly says, distinctly and confidently, in a low voice, "General, United States Army, retired. Married, two sons, both surgeons."
After a few minutes the man in the aisle seat states through a tight lipped smile, "General, United States Air Force, retired. Married, two sons, both judges."
After some thought, the fellow in the center seat decides to introduce himself. With a twinkle in his eye he proclaims, "Master Gunnery Sergeant, United States Marine Corps, retired. Never married, two sons, both Generals."
A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. "Your son is here," she said to the old man.
She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened. Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement. The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night, the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength.
Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile. He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients. Now and then, she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.
Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited. Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.
"Who was that man?" he asked.
The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.
"No, he wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life."
"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"
"I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn't here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."

READ: Luke 15:25-32
He was angry and would not go in. Luke 15:28
Some theologians divide transgressions into sins of the flesh and sins of the spirit. This means that some sins originate in our physical passions; others come from our heart or disposition. In the story of the prodigal son, the elder brothers attitude gives us an example of the latter.
Were inclined to single out the prodigal son as worse than his brother. But its worth noting that when the story ends, the prodigal is restored, forgiven, and full of joy, while the elder brother stands outside and refuses to go in.
The stay-at-home son is more than background filler. He makes us think about the state of our heart, for sour moods create untold misery.
Discontent, jealousy, bitterness, resentment, defensiveness, touchiness, and ingratitude are the dispositions that ruin our marriages, wither our children, alienate our friends, and embitter every lifeincluding our own.
Its easy to defend our bad moods and to slide into deception and hypocrisy. But we must guard our hearts against such destructive attitudes. When they arise, we need to confess them, let them go, and experience Gods forgiveness.
Dont let your bad attitude cause you to lose out while others enter into joy.
That was sent to me by email..I figured that putting it here on the Military thread would get it heard...Thanks for listening..

Yes, ma'am, I did.... :-)
Wow, thank you! excellent pix. any word on LadyinRed? was Chad there?
love the collage.. and I am really loving using my friend’s laptop on the road,
Amy looks like she has lost weight. Is that prissy missy tugging at (jeff?) arm?
No, neither of them were able to come. Tom had said that he might bring Connie (depending upon how she was feeling) but, because of her lowered immune system, she would have to stay in the car and not participate, but apparently he wasn't able to. :-(
love the collage.. and I am really loving using my friends laptop on the road,
I really enjoy mine, even though it is an old clunker...just a bare-bones laptop, but it will get me on the internet and, when I am on the road, that's all that matters.
<Amy looks like she has lost weight. Is that prissy missy tugging at (jeff?) arm?
Amy is doing great! Don't know if she has lost weight, but she did say she is very happy with the surgery she had on both of her knees. She seems to be getting around so much better now that both knees have been done.
Yep, that is PrissyMissy tugging on JK. She is growing like a weed. :-)
