Watching an interview of Lawrence Schiller on Fox News talking about his newly released photos of Marily Monroe, it reminded me of comments made to me about Schiller by the senior partner of an important entertainment law firm that I managed in Beverly Hills.
Sorta gives a new meaning to “Schilling” your product, eh?
Wow! How long has he been at this gig? Surely the Monroe photos aren’t his? Or are they?
Because of my many years managing entertainment law firms, I sincerely doubt that he was very close to Marilyn Monroe during her final days. This is probably a test to see if a publisher approaches him to do a book deal. My rememberance of Schiller is that he is the ultimate self-promoter, and that you should believe nothing he says and question his motives in what he does. I could go on for days about the hollywood liars, cheats, thieves and what really goes on in the entertainment biz, but I’ll save that for another time. Suffice it to say that if Larry Schiller could make a buck selling pictures of his parents having sex, he would have done it as soon as he got his hands on the pictures.
(forgot to say) including these pictures of Marily Monroe that he is promoting.
What? no pictures
Apparently they are on display in New York right now. Check to see if Foxnews has any reference to them on its website after his interview a little while ago.
I don’t understand the appeal of Marilyn Monroe. She’s not all that attractive to me. Audrey Hepburn, OTOH...
A young Audrey. Yes indeed. She had a certain sophistication.
“Peter and the Great”? Are you sure you didn’t mean “Peter the Wolf”??
The guy doing the interview seemed to be talking out of both sides of his mouth - stated flatly that Monroe had begun a relationship with Bobby Kennedy, was looking forward to doing photos for “Playboy”, and was in good spirits, but then said he thought she had committed suicide and was not the victim of a plot - not especially believable in anything he said......
Well, there is the messenger here and the message. Schiller obvioiusly has a 'MO' and a reputation to go with it; but but for Marilyn enthusiasts; it will only be about Marilyn and having the opportunity to see here in a 'fresh light'. . .
The picts are great; and no doubt, a welcome surprise to Marilyn admirers. . .
I think it was the sleaze factor. Classy girls like Audrey didn’t get the same press. Some things never change.
The new aspect seems to be the ability to buy large size prints of the pictures. Shots from this sequence have been around for many years.
Many are familiar; though a couple I had not seen before. . .or do not recall seeing. . .A fun exhibit; and no doubt; great pleasure with fresh opportunities for the Marilyn devotees. . .
