Seeing Red on Illegal Immigration
June 5, 2007 | The WriterInTX

Dear Fellow FReepers,

I have seen, with ever growing concern, the brazen disconnect between the will of the American people and our elected representatives on the subject of Amensty. Obviously, there will be dissent on the best way to deal with the continually growing influx of illegal aliens to our country; but there is a strong majority who believe we must stem the tide - and do it now!

Over the years, people have gotten used to hearing the word "right" slapped onto every cause and into many a slogan/jingle. It's gotten so that anyone can claim anything as a "right," when the reality is that many of the things we hold dear are not "rights" at all, they are privileges.

The Constitution specifically enumerates what "rights" we, as human beings, possess by virtue of our humanity - for those who believe in God, our Divine Birthright. But many of the comforts we enjoy: medical care, education, social assistance, etc., are privileges of living in America, paid for American taxpayers. While basic rights should be extended to all people in our shores, legal or not, the "privileges" that come from being an American should only be extended to those who were invited to join our Society. This is what irks many the most. Not only are privileges of citizenship being extended to non-citizens, they are being offered on a platter!

While I applaud our folks for leading the charge, making the calls, and sending the e-mails/faxes to propose this onerous legislation, it appears that Washington stands ready to turn a deaf-ear. Our howls of outrage are becoming "white noise."

Perhaps it is time to make a more visual presence?

Just a few ideas came to me, and I will happily let other FReepers take the helm:

How about we turn out, en masse, wearing the color RED to symbolize our anger? Red, one of the colors of our great flag? Red, the color of patriotic blood, shed to preserve our country? Red, the color of countless victims' blood, shed by illegal criminals finding safe harbor in our shores? Red, the color of the ink used to print the huge balooning national deficit our children will face due to all the "entitlements" this amnesty bill will heap upon us?

Red ribbons.

Red lettering on signs.

Red bumper stickers "NO AMENSTY."

Like the "Gore/Leiberman" "Sore/Loserman" slogans, and the "Support the Troops" rallies before - or even the "Count the Silverware" campaign, I think that actions will definitely speak louder than words.

I don't know where to start to make something like this happen, but I am happy to help here locally if someone else does!

How long do you suppose my fine luxurious sedan will last in Venice California with a “NO AMENSTY” sticker on it?

How about upside down flags on our car’s aerials? Or in the windows?

Dear Are Sole,

I can appreciate your concern. Isn't it sad, though, that you even have to take that into consideration? Isn't it outrageous that you can't express your thoughts on an issue this important - an exercise of your RIGHT to free speech - without having to worry about potential violence?

It may not seem like much, but we still need to keep calling the offices of congress and local GOP offices every day!

Next to your truck gun??? Perhaps the classic 45/70 Govt. lever action rifle???

They would be hard pressed to ban such a rifle that can “only” be used for hunting purposes...

/sarcasm

And all respects to the participants in this thread...

I like your proposal, in addition we must have a multi-pointed attack. Continue with the calls, faxes and emails to all in DC. Do the same to all local and national RNC offices. When I say all I mean in large states there is likely is more than one. You do not have to stay within your boarders, call the RNC, Congressmen in any state, if they ask where you are from LIE if necessary.

Next, find every IRS address and mail them a letter stating you are considering not paying your taxes if this bill becomes law. Someone has to open those letters. Sign it, “A Legal Citizen of The United States” This is freedom of speech.

Write to all the TV and radio networks and stations, again someone has to open the letters. Don’t forget commie PBS and NPR. Don’t forget “The Weekly Standard” and similar pubs. Use different size envelopes, typed, printed, look at all those Fonts on your PC. Send the message as posted in this thread.

A few more places to write to. Every department in Washington. It is time to increase the pressure.

How about we stop paying taxes.

Since Bush and our other elected officials spend our money unwisely, constantly, and do what they want, why not do the one thing that will really get their attention.

If millions of our new Mexican brothers and sisters are to be excused for taxes that they owe, then we are in effect being told to pay their taxes for them. How about we say no.

This country was begun with the idea of no taxation without representation. If you think you are being represented then you are violating the sodomy laws of where ever you live and need to take your head out of your butt.

I'm not suggesting you take up arms, like the brave people did a couple hundred years ago, even though we have the right to bear arms for this very reason: to protect us against a corrupt government.

You want to put a little sticker on your car? Yeah, that will make them listen to you. Is that how serious you are about this? Wow, you must really be mad. I think you should also hold your breath for thirty seconds. Yeah, that'll teach em.

When you are on your death bed and your grandchildren are living in squalor, you can tell them the reason you didn't do everything you could to stop this was because you would have gotten in trouble. They won't know the difference. American history will no longer be taught and the actions of the brave people who put their lives on the line to give this great country a chance will no longer be remembered.

Instead, you will be compared to Senor Bush and so will be remembered fondly.

But in your heart you will know.

Why don’t some brave people pitch a tent on the property of each Representative and Senator and claim that they can stay there because where they presently live they don’t make the money or have the opportunities to live like our Senators and Representatives live.

Just watch the police come and arrest them for trespassing...should make the news. After all what is the difference between someone moving into a country that does not belong to them and claiming ownership and someone moving onto property and claiming ownership.

As far as I can see there is no difference between the term “Illegal” and “Squatter”. In fact maybe we should call this bill Congress is trying to ram down our throats...”The Squatters Bill of Rights”.

It may be more effective to have a specific date(s) for wearing red. Right now, there is a small effort to wear red on Fridays to show support for our troops.

You kick my door down and move in and take all my stuff.
