Medea Benjamin, leader of the terrorist supporting Marxist front group Code Pink, tonight contradicted Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan's claim that she was broke after three years of non-stop campaigning against the Iraq war.
Sheehan, whose antiwar effort was prompted by the combat death in Iraq of her son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, in April 2004, issued a statement on Memorial Day announcing her retirement from the peace movement. In that statement, Sheehan claimed to have spent "every penny" she has received in the past three years to stop the war. She said that her hospital bills from treatment for a life-threatening illness last year are in collection.
Two years ago, Benjamin and Code Pink took Sheehan under their wing. Benjamin has taken Sheehan around the world protesting against America in support of Marxist dictators from the Korean peninsula to Europe, Venezuela and Cuba. Sheehan, who became world-famous as a result of her month-long antiwar encampment outside President Bush's Texas ranch in August 2005, helped garner publicity and greater influence for Code Pink on her global travels with Benjamin.
Code Pink took over the handling of fundraising receipts for Sheehan's two groups, Gold Star Families for Peace and the Camp Casey Peace Institute. The group also provided an assistant to Sheehan, an activist named Tiffany Burns.
Confronted outside a Hillary Clinton presidential fundraiser in Washington, D.C. tonight where she was tring to protest Clinton, Benjamin claimed that Code Pink didn't "touch any of Cindy's money" while acting as her fundraising agent.
When it was pointed out to Benjamin that she and her Code Pink co-founders Jodie Evans and Gael Murphy were all rich women who should be ashamed for using Sheehan to the point that she was too poor to pay her hospital bills, Benjamin flatly stated, "Cindy's got plenty of money."
When asked if Sheehan was lying when she said she was broke, Benjamin silently walked away.

I don’t think any of them sold very well. The hardback book probably did the best because she did a professional book tour for it.

But she likely received a hefty advance for her book, even if it didn’t sell well. She may not have made more than the advance, but she made the advance money.
