Ummm...Revenge? For what? He was still seeing Camilla before the marriage and after.

Fwiw, I think the royal family was wrong to push ‘marriage to suitable girls’ on Charles. I don’t think he and Diana were right for each other, I think he succumbed to pressure to get married to the right kind of girl and produce heirs and I think she was a naive young girl who was swept off her feet by a prince (literally) and was starry-eyed and thought it was love. Finding potential brides for Charles was practically a full time occupation for England for 20 years before he married. To be The One He Picked must have been very heady stuff for a sheltered, shy girl. I’m sure she thought it would last forever. And I think he probably thought he could get the pressure of him, get the heirs out of the way and go on with his private affair with Camilla, as most kings did.

He should have married Camilla, they were of an age and shared interests. I do feel sorry for him being forced more or less, into the marriage and I hope the two of them are happy now. But he was still seeing Camilla (her husband just kind of turned a blind eye to her being a Royal Mistress) during his engagement and marriage.

And
