Irish, Latino Catholics march for immigrant rights

Two days after a massive immigration overhaul collapsed in the U.S. Senate, Latino and Irish Catholics in the Bay Area joined forces Saturday to call for a revival of legislation that would help legalize undocumented workers across the country.

In San Francisco, more than 300 Catholics and other supporters marched, sang and prayed along a 1.5-mile route from Mission Dolores to St. Mary's Cathedral in a combined religious pilgrimage and political protest.

"I'm here to say we're not the problem," said Edgar "Shoboy" Sotelo, his pre-march pep talk a fluid combination of English and Spanish. "I'm here to say we are the solution, like many immigrants."

When Sotelo finished, the Rev. Brandon McBride addressed the growing crowd.

"My message to our senators is you cannot run and hide from this issue," he said in a thick Irish accent. "We have to revive this bill again."

Inside the basilica, 9-year-old Manuela Baez read an essay she wrote in Spanish called "It's Not Fair."

"The government of the United States should appreciate what the immigrants offer to this country, and they should support immigrants instead of deporting them," she said.

OK, I know I’ll get flamed for this. The Catholic church has bled the south of the border forever. I’m talking about people who can’t feed their families who give to the Church. Let’s talk the “Virgin of Guadalupe” por enhemplo.

300? wow, what a crowd. I bet they were all latino's as well, and one stupid Irish-Catholic priest. The reason there were only 300 latino's is because thats all the legal ones they could find.

The problem is that the American people, read that citizens of the USA, contacted their senators and demanded that illegals be treated as the criminals they are and not be given the keys to the chicken coup.
These poor little criminals are now seeing the writing on the wall. The next bill put forth will be a lot tougher on their illegal existence and may very well have some real teeth.
I am totally against giving our nation away to people who break the law. Either everyone has to obey all the laws or none of us have to obey any of them!!!!!

Because she is being taught to HATE the official language of the country she and her parents are Illegal criminals in.

Sure they want to be legal citizens and assimulate into the USA...

""The government of the United States should appreciate what the immigrants offer to this country, and they should support immigrants instead of deporting them," she said. "

Psst! little girl, we do support LEGAL immigrants coming to this country.

What we don't support is crimminals who break our laws by illegal entering the country, driving without liciences, breaking the law by tax evasion, defrauding the government in multiple ways, such as claiming social benefits, health care benefits, making false identifications, voting illegaly, along with other crimes these same criminals do in high numbers such as B&E, assault, rape, murder, drug trafficing, sluggling, etc. etc.

We don't have a problem with LEGAL immigrants at all, and in fact there is no effort to deport any of them.

Now that is a rediculous statement. The Church doesn't force "poor families who can't feed themselves" to give to the church. Quite to opposite in fact, they feed and help poor families who can't feed themselves. What does your church do for them?

Not in Mexico. Take a look at the beggars on the steps to the cathedrals. They take the widow’s mite daily.

You will not be "flamed" by me.

I'm very happy that you've brought the subject of "Total Sacrifice" into discussion. Jesus Christ gave Himself in Total Sacrifice.

Funny that you mention giving to the Church when just on the 9th of June, 2007, the Daily Readings at Mass had this Gospel, Matthew 12: 41-44:

He (Jesus) sat down opposite the treasury and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents. Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them, “Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.”

What has the Catholic Church given to the Americas and particularly to citizens in the United States? Only the absolute of teaching the Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

Recall that there was a pretend Catholic who wanted to be your president?

It was the Catholic Church as lead by the Vatican in Rome, and through the strict teachings of our present Pope (who was just a Cardinal back then) that saved America and perhaps the entire world from a champion of sin in every sense of Sacrament-hating fake Catholic.

The Virgin of Gadalupe is indeed Our Mother whose children, the priests of the Church that come to crush the heads of serpents.

I thank you for giving this opportunity to talk about the Catholic Church who's bled the enemy of mankind via the Blood of Christ, the Cross upon which He died, and the Remembrance of His Sacrifice via the Sacraments (today's Sunday Mass 2nd Reading by St. Paul (1 Cor 11:23-26), especially the Holy Eucharist who has defeated those champions of sin.

Maybe you didn't know why you brought up the subject of the "Virgin of Guadalupe", but I'm sure it's not out of hate for Jesus Christ, His Mother, nor those priests who try to be like St John and have enough spiritual courage to be with the Mother of God at the foot of His Cross. If you have anger, then I'm sure it's not directed at good priests who've stood against sin. Likewise, I'm sure you're no fool to media-hype that attacks everyone seeking Truth and giving testimony when they find it.

Mexico has not been friendly to the Catholic Church. In fact, the Freemasonry, Communists/Socialist, Atheists of Mexico has had a long running history of murdering Catholic Clergy. Review Blessed Padre Pro and how he faced his executioners for remaining a Catholic Priest.

Viva Cristo Rey!

It's not the Catholic Church that bleeds the "south of the border"--it is Satan. And it won't be forever that people suffer. Let your soul upset over Satan and sin and not for the custodians of the Sacraments. If you have a bad experience of a horrible fake Christian/Catholic/clergyman, etc., then let that hatred burn in Hell and not in your heart. Nail that temptation for hatred on the Cross so that you can stand next to the Saints who've accepted Christ's Total Sacrifice.

Let’s simply surrender to Mexico, period. Hand over the entire country, lock, stock, and barrel. In the end, if they get their way, we’ll pay reparations for ‘stealing’ Mexican land, and we’ll see political corruption as bad as Reconstruction after the Civil War with the same bogus morality shoved down our throats. Insanity. Meanwhile, democrats think any means to an end is great.

If “immigrants” have rights, who gave them the rights and who guarantees them?

We are talking here anyway about illegal aliens, not immigrants. Illegal aliens have no rights at all except for whatever rights, if any, they might have in their own country. And they have those rights only in their own country.

As far as illegal aliens from Mexico, or anywhere else, they are uninvited, unwanted and should immediately go home. If they want to come to this country go through the legal process.

Not only that, but the Pope has been working on stuffing the U.S. ballot box for years. If he gets a Catholic majority in this country, there goes the Land Of The Free!
