300? wow, what a crowd. I bet they were all latino's as well, and one stupid Irish-Catholic priest.

What an ignorant, biggoted, remark.

Thank you for reminding why I'm so glad I'm Catholic.

Just to set the record straight.

Can you prove this assertion? Do you really think you contribute anything by expressing such logically handicapped sentiments?

There is a saying about the benefits, if one is a fool, of keeping his mouth shut...

Attack Mexicans who bust their @asses all day long to support their families. Attack the president for pushing the issue to a solution, rather than burying it like his predecessor. Attack the Church for standing up for those who are in need of defense.

You can discern the justice of your cause examining those who oppose you.

"I'm here to say we are the solution, like many immigrants."

There's nothing like a positive attitude, even if it's based on BS.

Yes. The reply was designed to identify folks who've missed the point. The current brouhaha isn't about controlled immigration.

One side demands our current immigration laws be enforced and would tolerate a guest worker program. The other side would like to relax(reform) our current immigration laws and let labor travel freely about the hemisphere and into and out of our country.

Neither side has been thus far been willing to engage in a transparent discussion of the changing demographics and US economic strategies that are driving our need to access unskilled labor and reduce the median age of our population.

Don the flame-retardent suits.

I am not a Catholic. But I have been very close to one who was, and have learned to see the difference between what Catholics actually believe, and what non-Catholics and anti-Catholics have, in their ignorance, to say about Catholics.

I joined Free Republic looking for honest discussion of issues, knowing I would not find it in easy, flippant, pseudo-intellectualism tossed carelessly about by the Left. In honest discussion, I expect someone who makes a statement to have honestly looked for the truth behind it. Whether in politics or religion, that's what I think honesty is about.

Because the faith of the poor compels them to give back to the source of that faith, it does not mean that their church is BLEEDING them. By the same argument, if you contribute to a candidate or party, that candidate or party is BLEEDING you. Do you REALLY feel that way?

The Pope stuffing the ballot box. INDEED! One of the most important things that Catholics are about is conscience. The fact that some do not demonstrate it is not the doing of the Church, but their own doing. And at some level, their conscience knows it. The ballots in that box were placed there by Americans who happen to be Catholic, not by the Pope. And many of those ballots will NOT reflect the tenets of the Church or of the Pope. Look at how much fun we have on FR flaming Democratic politicans who profess to be Catholic, but who support such thing as abortion. Misguided though they may be, they are voting what they think their conscience dictates.

Bottom line: before you act like a Liberal and spit out some mis-information which appeases your misconceptions, give it some thought. Give unto others the respect you would have them give unto you,

This is not the first time Irish and Latinos stood together.

Jesus is a Just God, but He prefers to give Mercy--that's why Jesus shed His Blood upon the Cross for our sins. Satan demands justice so that we'd be forced to keep the devil company in hell. Thus, cry "mercy" instead of "justice" so that Jesus can Forgive you.

The laws that most God-fearing immigrants broke were not God's Law but man's law in an attempt to establish order. Many have crossed borders illegally simply because this is still the BEST country in the world. What does this tell us?

IT'S BETTER TO LIVE AS A CRIMINAL IN AMERICA THAN TO LIVE AS A SLAVE ANYWHERE ELSE!

My friend worked on a ship where they found stowaways hiding in the engine room's bilges...up to their faces in oil and filth. Only their eyes and noses revealed them. That's how bad much of the world is. These stwaways were not the type of "immigrants" that would hijack an airliner and fly into a sky scrapper.

Think about the filth you'd crawl through to get to some place worthy enough of the name "home" and then pass judgment.

There should be no "amnesty" for illegal immigrants because amnesty means surrendering the rule of law. Perhaps, since most of us here profess to love Jesus, we should be merciful like He is merciful to us. Justice will still be served as Mercy is the spirit of reconciliation and the one Divine gift we ALL need to enter Heaven. What honest citizens desire is a removal of those criminal against God's Law rather than a skewed xenophobic isolationist's "justice" of kicking out all outsiders.

Furthermore, Catholicism is not America's enemy. Other religions have made it their cult duty to destroy American Constitutionalism. Catholicism does not. In fact, there is no other spiritual process that has fulfilled American idealism with real meaning than what the Catholic Church has promoted via LIFE, liberty, and pursuit of happiness with a guarantee of rights for ALL LIFE from conception to natural death. No other religion with meaningful numbers has propped up the US Constitution so substantially than the Catholic Church.

If there's a modern location on God's Good Earth that has best demonstrated a marriage between Faith and Reason in spite of corruption and sin, the US of A is the 2nd place best example. The 1st is the Vatican. But even before that, the Jews have beat us both to it proving that God Loves His Chosen first before all others--and He does not forget His Promise.

Finally, OUR REAL DESIRE FOR CITIZENSHIP HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A HOTLY CONTESTED PATCH OF REAL ESTATE ON THIS PLANET, BUT WITH OUR SOUL'S ENTRANCE INTO HEAVEN!!!

Jesus Christ taught on several occasions the soul's duty to seek the Kingdom of Heaven first (He often taught this through the subject, and attempted entrapment, of duties of taxation). Mankind mistakes God's Promise for Paradise aS being a place on earth. In our limited and distracted imaginations, this is not so. Paradise is a place in Heaven. We're only renting space on earth. But until the Resurrection, His Divine Kingdom of Divine Will resides in our hearts ("Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done..."). For it is our hearts that may become the Temple for the Holy Spirit if we let Him. It is not a physical building that King David desired (one that a mortal might put God "in a box"). All else is mammon and distraction--that which tests our purity and desire to love as Christ Loves us.

You attack us Americans who want the law enforced. You attack us Americans who want to reduce our tax burdens by removing those who unfairly benefit from them.

We discern the justice of our cause by examining the bleeding-heart illegal lovers who oppose us.

Yup, 300 and in bleeding-heart-rich San Fran, the only place they could get this many together. Funny, the headline doesn’t mention ANY of the specifics.

We use law and order to protect the quality of our lives. The laws of our land are being violated on a grand scale and the U.S. citizen is not happy about.

WWJD to the snake? Perhaps the same thing that St Patrick did to the snakes in Ireland. Drive them into the sea or abyss (the abyss is poetically Jewish to describe hell).

Recall that Jesus described devils as “snakes” and “scorpions” when He commanded his Apostles to cast out (exorcise) demons.

Luke 11 also describes how a father should not pass on his demons. “11 What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish? 12 Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg? 13 If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

Learning from exorcists, we know that demons have a nature that can be mastered by mankind even though they are supernatural (as God instructs Cain in Genesis before Cain murders his brother). That devils have separated themselves from God’s Grace means that we can subdue them using the power of Jesus Christ’s name.

Our Lady of Guadalupe translated somewhat to “she who crushed the snake” to the Mexican Aztecs. They immediately understood her power over Satan and they converted to Christianity. Recall that the previous cannibal pagan theocracy (prior to Spanish colonial rule) worshiped a deified serpent that demanded human blood. The Catholic Church won hearts and minds over to Christ because Jesus gives His own Body and Blood as Sacrifice for our sins. The blood of humans is not enough to redeem us. All of our blood does not equal a mere drop of His Precious Blood.

This Christian message was a welcome relief to a people who saw their neighbor as either predator or prey.

Jesus is God and Creator of time. He observes all within and outside time. So, when His Apostles returned after a short mission...

Luke 10:
18
Jesus said, “I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky.
19
Behold, I have given you the power ‘to tread upon serpents’ and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you.
20
Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
21
At that very moment he rejoiced (in) the holy Spirit and said, “I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. 9 Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
22
All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
23
Turning to the disciples in private he said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
24
For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”

...we are truly blessed to hear and see just this little bit of God’s Glory in our lifetimes!

That's why I enjoy Carvaggio's work so much.

He was a bit of a rebel (used a well known err..horizontal entertainer? as the model for Jesus' grandmother) but does capture the essence of what the Nazarene's mission was.

“The bill in the Senate stopped, but the problem never stops,” said Porfirio Quintano, a community organizer and a parishioner of St. Kevin’s Catholic Church, adding that the estimated 12 million people in the country illegally need reforms. “They’re waiting for something”

THEY”RE WAITING FOR SOMETHING? What? They’re not entitled to ANYTHING here... They’re ILLEGAL ALIENS....

“immigrants are a valuable asset to the country”

Yes they are but the AMNESTY Bill was not about immigrants..it was about illegal aliens who are not an asset...criminals never are...
