'Today' Tags W's Warm Welcome in Eastern Europe 'Over the Top'

Can you remember the last time you heard "Today" or other MSM outlets describe in terms such as "over the top" rabid anti-Bush protests by the likes of the Cindy Sheehan crowd, the Code Pink girls, or the kind of folks pictured below? Neither can I.

But let President Bush receive a warm welcome from Eastern European crowds who appreciate his leadership on behalf of their freedom, and "Today" just can't take it.

On this morning's "Today" at 7:04 am EDT, NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reported from Bulgaria on the president's European trip, in which crowds in Bulgaria and notably in Albania greeted him very enthusiastically.

NBC CORRESPONDENT KELLY O'DONNELL: We've seen the president get a warm, sometimes over-the-top reaction here in Eastern Europe where countries send troops to Iraq and also generally back the president. So he may not be all that anxious to get back to Washington."
View video here.

A similar phenomenon over at Good Morning America, where Chris son-of-Mario Cuomo mocked:
GOOD MORNING AMERICA CO-HOST CHRIS CUOMO: So maybe that's where he goes after the president's over. He winds up moving to Albania and becomes the Big Man on Campus.
Actually, Chris, it's Democrats who typically declare their intention to leave the country, though they rarely follow through on their promises.

Notably Albania, indeed! I should think so after he has decided to give them Kosovo...

-!

I just hope you took your medication this morning! I caught a wiff of this earlier and had to switch to the sports channel just to calm down.

In many ways, we are still Island America. During WWII's early days, when we were fat and sassy and Adolph was just a man in a silly mustache, it was easy to say "that's a European war". To the folks in Britain, things looked different. They understood that a very cunning and popular madman was laying down the foundation for a new world that would threaten their very lives. Winston Churchill saw it; FDR saw it. Your average American? It took Pearl Harbor, an attack on our proxi-soil before it was real, bread and butter real.

The Eastern European countries have SEEN Muslim fanatics. Like another totalitarian state, the Communists, the people who are welcoming Bush know fanatics when they see them. Thing blow up over there on a regular basis. Is it any wonder that they cheer the man who has actually said, there will be hard times, but we must stop this...now.

If these supposed "journalists" were worth their salt, they would instead be asking, "why do these people care so much?" "What do they know that we don't?" and not blindly dismissing the support that they give to the one man who has said, "Hey, these nuts are dangerous!"

Good to see you stopping by Today for some needed scrutiny, GLGB. NBC has continued to slide far left, and the Today show starts it off.

If they were truly being “fair,” they would have given a little more thought to why our President is welcomed in another country, one which is not influenced by the MSM or foreign lib media. Instead, they feel they have written his story and have no problem laughing at him and people who appreciate some things he’s done.

Obviously, the Albanians are easily pleased.....

He's a Texan that's wearing out his welcome in Texas....

Liberal Republicans, like fish, begin to stink...immediately!

“GOOD MORNING AMERICA CO-HOST CHRIS CUOMO”

Why, oh why, do we have these Democrat politicos posing as reporters? This is the MSM’s idea of fair and balanced. Let’s review: Matthews, Stephenopoulos, Carville, Russert -and Cuomo.

BJ clinton never got that type of reception in Europe, ever?? He had to cancel his trip to Rome because of huge protests. Must be killing PravdABDNC to see our beloved President receive this type of welcome, not to mention much of FR.

Pray for W and Our Troops

"...regularly receives adoring throngs in Europe."

Didn't you mean to write thongs instead? That would probably be more appropriate.

I heard that Albania has three different postage stamps with President Bush on them.

(I just did a search and found them)

Ya gotta love those Eastern Europeans. They are the only people who ever forgave America for rescuing them.

sometimes over-the-top reaction here in Eastern Europe

It was over the top. Completely. The man is a politician. Nothing more, nothing less. That Albanians, and even worse citizens of our own respective states, show such 'worship' (and there's no other word for it) is disgusting. The man was elected to do a job for 4 years. I thought I was watching a remake of the Beatles coming here (not that the Beatles or any other man deserves it either)
