Two people driving in a stolen sport utility vehicle led officers on a high-speed chase that started in Arlington and ended when the suspects crashed into a brick pillar outside a West Mifflin shopping plaza, critically injuring one of them.
Police said the pair carjacked the SUV
The man, identified by Ross police as Arlo Lamond, 38, of Mount Washington, was caught on surveillance tape lunging at a car-wash worker with a knife moments before he and a woman made off with the SUV.
Police identified the woman as Leann Doyle, 22, also of Mount Washington.
The suspects had to be extricated from the vehicle. Police said Ms. Doyle was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where she was in critical condition.
Mr. Lamond was transported to Mercy Hospital with a head wound and compound fracture to one of his arms
Ross police Detective Benjamin Dripps said charges are pending. "This all goes back to an incident that could have ended up with injuries in Ross Township and ended luckily without bystanders being injured in West Mifflin."
During the chase, Ms. Doyle threw numerous objects at police, including several soda cans, according to police. The suspects narrowly missed Mr. Pelikan, who was directing traffic at Mifflin Road and Lebanon Church Road, before colliding with a brick column
Witnesses said they saw the car careen through the busy shopping plaza parking lot, missing parked cars and shoppers, before it crashed into the brick pillar.
"Bricks went flying everywhere," said Amberlee Batchelor, of West Mifflin, who witnessed the SUV slam into the pillar from a window of Curves in the plaza. "If they were one store over, they would hit right were I was standing."
Brad Bennett, a fireman with the West Mifflin volunteer fire department, said the SUV was traveling at least 80 mph.

Was this postet to get sympathy for the robbers, or to prove that there is justice sometimes in this world...

What a waste of that car and that wall....
I think the police should have left the armed carjackers in the wrecked vehicle, instead of taking them to the hospital.
The cops should have worked on the car and wall first. Once they were fixed, then they should have worked on the scum bags in it.
I feel much better now.....

Is that your idea of a joke?
No. Their names, race, and ethnicity are irrelevant. What matters is their actions.
Exactly!!! But that doesn't seem to hold water around here lately.
If they were of Hispanic or Black ethnicity I doubt that their names would have been published!
That poor pillar and the engineers that designed it!!
Must be the introduction to an article about arrest and conviction of the police officers.
No, wait, they’re not Border Control officers. Never mind.
A relief to know I’m not the only one that thinks this way.
Whenever I see a police chase on TV with a stolen car, my first thought is always of the car owner who is going to have to go through hell to get their car replaced. And they will never see what it is worth.
My thought always is, if the perp is captured, they should never be let out of jail until they make sure the victim is totally reimbursed for the loss of their vehicle.
Did you read the post at all?

That's gotta hurt.
It’s a car accident. Why is it on F.R.? -Wb
“Witnesses said they saw the car careen through the busy shopping plaza parking lot, missing parked cars and shoppers, before it crashed into the brick pillar. (Careering-missed objects)
“Bricks went flying everywhere,” said Amberlee Batchelor, of West Mifflin, who witnessed the SUV slam into the pillar from a window of Curves in the plaza. “If they were one store over, they would hit right were I was standing.” (Now that’s careening!)
Did you read that my post was not directed at you, but at Steveo, whose comment, which I think was a joke, could be taken as a negative attack against freepers?
Slow down and pay attention.
I am not certain what your intention is, but you substituted Hispanic names, and implied that some freeper's may be over obsessed with Hispanic's of late.
You I take it are getting tired of this.
The obvious answer, as to why there is a focus on Hispanics, is the immigration bill, the (slightly)less obvious answer is the degree of anger many of us have as to the failures of the government to address this issue.
The more obvious answer is the complete failure of the Republicans to grab this issue, capitalize on the anger and direct it to where it belongs:
