My guess is they would have been rewarded if there hadn't been public outrage.

If Joel Becker had said something like that to my kid he'd still be recovering from the beat down.
Or maybe he wouldn't be.

"Teenage abstinence was dismissed as an unwise choice and indicative of religious hang-ups." It's because Sex Positive teaching advocates consider sexual pleasure a birthright and want to end all moral judgements over sexual pairings. They want everyone to "get it on" at every age.
They consider abstinence an unhealthy supression of sexual desires.
They've come for your children. But some on FR are quite ok with teen sex and a double standard in statutory rape laws. Age of consent laws are being slowly whittled away. Just another culture war battle being waged.

By 2010, and I just pulled off all these statistics from the internet so you can get them as well, two-thirds of all jobs in the US will require a college degree... It turns out that only 18 percent of freshman in high school wind up graduating from college.I guess this means 18% of the population will hold 66% of the jobs.
No wonder people claim to be overworked.

Could you imagine if administrators brought in someone to read from the Bible, or to teach abstinence, and “no” to drugs? They’d be fired, pensions taken away, the works!
Why is the “zero tolerance” principle so hard on kids who happen to bring a Tylenol to school, yet in this case, these idiots get away with advocating the use of ecstacy? How does this ever happen?

Boulder couldn’t turn any further left without falling off the Globe.

I certainly don’t agree with this kind of “education” for children. However, my nephew attends Boulder High School, and told me that they were not required to attend. They were given the choice between completing a written assignment and attending the presentation. Also, he seems to feel that some of the comments have been unfairly interpreted. According to him, most of the students and parents thought the assembly was a positive experience.
I don’t see the value in presenting some random person’s opinions to high school students, no matter what it is. Why are their opinions worth more than anyone else’s? Especially not, when they present drug use and teen sex as acceptable. I just wanted to point out that the some of the information from this article is incorrect.

I assume it will be o.k for gangbangers to get paid lectures on proper gun control when shooting at targets from the NRA because they are going to do it anyway,"

Unbelievable. I think the explanation here is simple: the school board and administrators are hoping the issue will go away. Maybe they don't want union trouble. Also, some of them may be quietly in favor of the foolishness spoken at that seminar.
Regardless, they don't want to rock the boat.

Why not just give them target practice? That way innocent bystanders won’t be hit, and they’ll be sure to hit their targets with one shot.
