Your open question: You would think Clinton had been President?
Just the opposite:
Once Clinton smelled the coffee or more precise, his own party folks were for or against whatever it was:
Clinton followed polls.
Clinton did succumb to stubbornness standing in the way.

“If The Bipartisan Immigration Reform Bill Now Being Considered By The Senate Is Not Passed, The U.S. Will Be Left With A Status Quo That Is Unacceptable”

You’re right, that is a threat not to enforce the law.

I’ve noticed the MSM is not pushing Bush/Snow very hard. Unlike on the WMDs they could destroy Bush on the “Bush Lied” meme and otherwise here, but they are crippled with 1. the fear of being called racist, 2. fear of supporting regular Americans rather than elites, 3. fear of harming Dems pres. candidates like Obama and Clinton who are in the wage depression lobby’s pockets (hidden by “care” for objectified Hispanic underclass, foreigners of course.)

I prefer them in the shadows rather than legalized parasites.

“Where is my local maternity ward?”
“Where is my welfare office?”
“Where are my schools?”
“Where are my civil rights laywers?”

Top 5 Reasons Immigration Reform Bill Must Killed This Year

1. It sucks.

2. It's a fraud.

3. It's a lie.

4. It's flawed.

5. It's a betrayal of the American people.

That about covers it. But give me time I can think of more.

They broke our laws to get here, why would they suddenly start obeying our laws?

Why would they want to be in the SS system and start losing 20% if their income paying taxes on what they earn?

NO AMNESTY! NO S 1348 OR SUBSEQUENT BILL! EENFORCE THE CURRENT IMMIGRATION LAWS! BUILD DUNCAN HUNTER’S DOUBLE BORDER FENCE NOW!!

Why? Because this bill is sympathetic to the illegal alien, the invader, the terrorist, the militant La Raza! This bill is anti-American to the core.

Goldarnnit, Dubya, we KNOW it's broken.

And the most broke part is the open border and unenforced employer sanctions.

FIX those and only those for 3-5 years to demonstrate your good faith to the American people instead of the people of Mexico and then if that is working the way we've been promised so often it was supposed to, then maybe we can talk.

A reply to the President’s 5 points:

1. Border security and interior enforcement laws need to be improved.

——Laws need to be enforced FIRST. The U.S. did at one time ENFORCE our immigration and deportation laws. Why can’t the U.S. enforce our laws now? We don’t need “improvement” of the laws. We need “enforcement” of the laws.

2. Employers do not have the tools they need to verify the work eligibility of their employees with assurance.

-——We can develop tools to give employers. The IRS has the tools to verify our wages — of course our government has the tools — The feds can assist the employers in verifying the work eligibility. That is the purpose of the Federal Government. To protect the U.S.; we are being taken over by an illegal workforce.

3. As many as 12 million illegal workers remain in the shadows.

-—— That is not a reason, Mr. President. That is the result of not enforcing our immigration and deportation laws.

4. Only around 13 percent of green cards are awarded each year based on employment-related criteria, and far too little emphasis is placed on the skills and attributes necessary to fill the needs of our growing economy and further the national interest.

-——Mr. President, illegals don’t apply for green cards. They don’t need them; they don’t want them. It is in the national interest to continue the green card system — just deport those who are working without green cards.

5. There is no efficient mechanism by which willing foreign workers may be hired for jobs Americans are not doing.

———Yes there is. It is call legal “immigration”. Some people really do go through the legal channels to come into the U.S. There is an efficient mechanism in place. The problem is that our fed government has allows 12 million people to cross over illegally — going to the front of line and working illegally.

Isn’t the whole point of making them legal so they can be exploited w/o fear by the companies who want the kind of employee they can push around?

Final sentence should read:
Clinton did not succumb to stubbornness standing in the way.

The Bill Commits The Most Resources To Border Security In U.S. History

Should add, "pending appropriation of funds at a later date." I didn't bother to read any further. He is trapped by his own deceptions and so has no alternative but to vainly persist. "Immigration reform" may do what the Iraq war could not. His entire second term may be derailed by this futile attempt at manipulation.

More and more, he sounds like LBJ in early 1968 trying to sell the country on a war he already knew was fatally misconceived and mismanaged, but he kept hammering away... and no one listened. Not one person.

This is not over yet. Bush refuses to give up this easily. It's his stubborn character. As I predicted he would try to resurrect it and call it something else. We have to keep our guard up. We need to keep the pressure up. We have no choice but to fight. The oligarchy wants cheap labor and a destruction of the middle class and the millionaire democrats want votes they can count on. A marriage made in HELL.

STAGE TWO is to go after the people who hire illegals. Start giving them fines and arresting them. Just catch ten or 100 of them on the nightly news. The magnet will dry up and most of the 12 million will go home by themselves.

As an addendum, we should anonymously call the IRS, people working "off the books" means taxes ain't being paid. Make anonymous fliers and hang them around the neighborhood, name names. It's time to embarrass these bustards, whether they give to the GOP or Rats, we don't need them.

CALL! CALL! CALL! CALL! AND KEEP CALLING TILL THE LINES FRY!

WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!

Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them. This is a bipartisan issue not a Conservative or Liberal issue BUT AN AMERICAN issue.

STOP AMNESTY NOW!! WE CAN DO IT!!

The best way to stop Shamnesty

DO YOURSELF, THE PEOPLE WHO’VE SUPPORTED YOU FOR MANY YEARS, AND THIS NATION A FAVOR. RESIGN YOUR OFFICE AND LET DICK CHENEY FINISH OUT YOUR TERM BEFORE YOU END UP SURPASSING JIMMY CARTER AS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN MODERN HISTORY.

>Dubyah’s in full court press to pass this thing. Why I really don’t know. Mexico? Big business? Ignorance?<

You’ve obviously not been reading my posts on this subject, or refuse to believe the truth in them.

Create a rift in the party, which W. has certainly done all by himself. To give you the short version: Rift in party = move toward one party system, and the rest is history.
