Riiiight. Dems & liberals are really going to go for replacing the income tax with a national sales tax. When pigs fly.

7% Flat tax would be my choice.

Wow. What would that pay for? Does that include payroll taxes? What about business taxes?

You lost me. What doesn’t include SS Taxes? The chart?

Or the fact that we keep throwing money down a rat hole? ;)

This chart shows where our tax dollars are SPENT, not what’s actually collected. These are the projected budget figures for each government agency for Fiscal Year 2007.

You and I need to come up with the cash to fund this nonsense.

So get busy, because I’m tapped out! ;)

What would that pay for?

Only federal spending, no more ear-marks.

Does that include payroll taxes?

That’s it, income tax.

What about business taxes?

Zero. They’d only pass taxes on to people who already pay income tax, as a ‘hidden tax’.

Of course having fiscal conservatives spend frugally would help keep deficits down,
but there’s nothing we can do when Congress agree to spend more than they have,
so let them charge it, keep taxes low,
and the longer it takes to pay off the deficit, the cheaper the dollars.

Keep the AMT. It hurts California and New York and helps the rest of the nation.

They will if their constituents continue to put the pressure on both parties.

That sure explains why you're hell bent on replacing rather than fixing what we have.

Yes, I want to reduce spending. I want to put downward pressure on spending using every possible leverage - the leverage we’ve been trying for 90 years has been ineffective and even allowed the unbounded growth of government and its spending.

That does not include Social Security taxes.

But..., but..., those are "Federal Insurance Contributions", not taxes (FICA).

FDR and his "New Deal" crowd merely established a mandatory "insurance" program in 1935. They went to great lengths to explain that in enacting Social Security! (Barf)
