Restaurant Linked to E. Coli Shut Down (illegals slaughter live goat in kitchen after hours)

CHINA GROVE, N.C. – Captain’s Galley, the restaurant linked to an E. coli outbreak in Rowan County, has been shut down after health officials confirmed that a goat was slaughtered inside the restaurant.

The Rowan County Health Department announced today they learned of the slaughter from an anonymous tip by a former employee, which was confirmed by management and ownership.

They’re not saying the slaughter is the exact cause of the E. coli outbreak, which sickened 20 people and killed one woman. But health officials say it is biologically plausible that the goat slaughter may have been the source of the outbreak.

Officials say it happened in the kitchen sometime between May 11 and May 20, after the restaurant was closed for the night. It does not appear that goat was served to customers.

It is possible, however, that kitchen utensils used to slaughter the goat may have been used later on in other food preparation, but that has not been confirmed.

The former employee who reported the incident worked at Captain’s Galley at the time of the slaughter, but is no longer employed there.

The restaurant management and their attorney did not protest the health department’s decision to shut them down. The owners say they are appalled by the acts of a few employees and have taken appropriate action against those employees.

Health officials said eight cases of E. coli, a bacterial infection of the stomach and intestines, have been confirmed, and another 12 are probable. Everyone who got sick ate at the restaurant between May 26 and June 3.

Faye Sides, 86, ate at the restaurant with family members after church on May 27, and she died last week. Both the health department and the owners of Captain’s Galley restaurant expressed their deepest sympathies to the Sides’ family.

Some people in this thread said that they don’t eat out anymore, or aren’t going to. The same is true of me. Can’t remember the last time I ate out. I’m trying to figure out how illegal aliens are such a benefit. What good are cheap bus boys, cooks, dish washers, etc., when Americans stop going to restaurants entirely?

I think the telling thing was that the WSOC story (the first time it aired) also stated that the authorities had to speak to the offenders through an interpreter since none of them spoke English. That report was last night. The WCNC report this morning didn’t go into that detail, but WCNC is VERY liberally biased.

See 51. It completely destroyed my appetite for eating out.

That’s what I was thinking. Hispanics don’t usually slaughter goats for food.

Where did you get your information? Mexicans (not Hispanics) eat a lot of cabrito. I to have dined on this fine meat (Texas is awash with the Boar meat goat), of course the goat was dead at the time.

I had no idea that goats were commonly eaten in Mexico. I have already been corrected. It still sounds awful.

To me the flavor of goat is very similar to lamb.

Bon appetit...

Immigrants' Backyard Butchery of Goats Riles Neighbors

SANFORD, N.C. -- As the suburbanites of Sanford, N.C. have heard with their own ears, goats definitely do not go quietly into that good night.

The throngs of Mexicans who recently moved to the town have taken barbecue to another level: some Mexicans like to start a fiesta by slaughtering a goat to be roasted. In a tradition they believe brings good luck, they nail the head up in a tree for all to see.

Another one of those uncivilized practices of a certain middle east cult?

I like goat. The trick is that you have to cook the hell out of it.

I have been a lot healthier since I gave up eating in restaurants. For what that’s worth.

If you’re not getting sick from the food, you’re catching a cold from touching things that are being handled by lots of people with the cold virus, or something like that.

You are correct — China Grove is just southeast of San Antonio, outside Loop 410. There is another China Grove on I-85 northeast of Kannapolis.

Was it one of Trent V. Lott’s goats?
