TO ALL VETERANS: What Is An Oath?
n/a ^ | 6/19/2007 | A Navy Vet

Posted on 06/19/2007 1:55:56 AM PDT by A Navy Vet

I have a question for all Veterans and current military personnel - it is: What did your Oath of Alligiance mean to you? Do you remember the words of said oath that you raised your hand to? And if you do, is that oath still valid?

Do you remember the part about "foreign and domestic"? As a simple aviation sailor, I remember those words back in 1975 as clearly as I remember yesterday's dinner.

I ask now because our beloved Republic is at a crossroads that will determine the future of the value of your Oath.

That future is about the SOVEREIGNTY of our United States. It is about our willingness to support and maintain the original concept of men who risked all. Men and women who were willing to sacifice their lives and fortunes to ensure their freedom and futures.

Those who took that Oath, are you still willing to work/fight for what you gave your sacred honor for? If not, then you will have forsaken your most special prize as a man/woman - your integrity.

It is, once again, time to for those of Oath and all Americans to rise up against the ever-increasing government double-dealings.

Our sovereignty is at risk. Our way of life is at risk.

Amnesty for those who would illegally cross our borders is un-American and contrary to the fight that all Veterans and Active-duty military and Patriotic Americans fight for. Did your son; your daughter; your brother; your sister fight in foreign lands only to see our great American experiment die from massive invasion of a Third World? Is this what they defended? No.

Uphold your Oath; your Patriotic principles; your realization of our better way of life. Call, fax, e-mail, pound on doors, corner your Representives. Do what ever it takes to make them understand we are a sovereign nation and will stand by while they destroy our Fathers' ideals.

Yes, I remember and I was very proud when I took it.

It is my recollection that I have not been released from that oath - feel free to take that at face value.

Thank you for taking that Oath and it sounds like you still honor it. An oath is forever, unless you renounce it formally.

So, the question remains, does your Oath also include the "domestic" part? I ask, because our Fedgov system is on the verge of tyranny due to their back-room dealings regarding the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" legislation they are pushing contrary to some 80% of American position.

When I took the oath upon my enslavement to The Suck(TM) I knew it meant they could toss my dumb ass in jail if I failed to follow orders. I joined as a young man running away, not for patriotic reasons. Good thing too. As I’ve grown up I have come to realize that as often as not, the people in power care *&^%-all about military personnel, let alone the welfare or desires of the citizens.

I feel I’ve been released from my oath. You can take that at face value.

I am ashamed to see what our federal and state governments are doing.

They have become a tyranny.

In Massachusetts, the people voted to not condone gay marriage, yet the legislature refused to vote onit. They were ordered to by a federal judge, and still refused. And last week, when the people demanded they vote it out, refused to vote again.

Here in Connecticut, we have a billion dollar budget surplus, and they are going to raise taxes!

We also expect Gay Marriage to pass within 2 years.

And we have a new Illegal Immigrant sanctuary here, New Haven.

I will try to be clear.

Yes I mean exactly what my oath says - all enemy's, foreign and domestic - From hell's very gate, I will uphold my oath.

I must remind you though that there are many ways to uphold my oath without open violence (not that I would shrink from it).

I agree that we must fight this with every means at our disposal.

If I have not answered you question, not to worry, I am patient and will try again.

Never was military, getting old, and starting to wonder when we will know that we have to fight, and who will tell us . . . don’t see Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams and Hamilton around . . .

I took the oath in1979 when I joined the Navy, and it is still in force. I’ve already called and e-mailed appropriately, and am willing to do whatever is needed.

I took the oath. I believed it, and still do.

Granted, oaths don’t mean anything in a shooting war, but giving your word on something should have significance.

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.” (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

Those were tough years for anybody in the service. Give yourself a pat on the back and thanks!

Neither did they. They had to BECOME those men. We need to lead when God calls us to. It's never too late. Consider Moses. All of us need to consider what we can do. Perhaps someday Greg F will be on Mount Rushmore!

My oath was forever. It still applies. As a military retiree, I draw a monthly check fromn Uncle Sam. I owe him and you, us and we.
