Fred Thompson, the actor and former US senator, has given his strongest indication yet that he is preparing to launch a presidential campaign in the next few weeks.
In an exclusive interview, his first with a non-US news organization, the former lawyer and star of "Law and Order", the US detective show, told The Times that his presidential bid would be based on his belief that Americans wanted change and that he was uniquely placed to provide it.
I think they perceive the reality and the reality is that perhaps this is the occasion where the man meets the times.
He said he had the experience for a tough presidential campaign in an already crowded field for the Republican nomination in next years presidential election. As we say where I grew up this aint my first rodeo. Ive seen it up close and personal. Ive had good friends run for president. I've campaigned for them. Ive known a few presidents. I understand what the job is about and I wouldnt run for it if I wasnt willing to pay the price.

From your post 69: "If Duncan Hunter is not the next president of the United States, I fear there will no longer be a United States. You heard it here first."
To which I responded with: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalms 27:1 KJV)
I dont want to see my country slip into oblivion and you paste the name fear all over that?
You used the word fear.
Fear not.
Oh, Marlowe! There is fear (concern) and there is fear (rank terror). I’m ‘afraid’ (concerned) that you applied the wrong one quite deliberately :)
You sounded desperate. The world will not end if Duncan Hunter is not elected president. You'd better hope that is true, because it will probably never happen (at least not before Fred Thompson serves out his term) :-)
:) I will not waver from my stand, but, since you insist, I will give you the last word.
Fine
