My boy has a Yukon SUV that gets pretty bad mileage, but he drives back and forth to work in an $800 Geo Metro (3 cyl) that gets fantastic mileage.

... by 2020? That is essentially meaningless legislation. There will be at least 6 congressional elections between now and then. Seems any one one of a number of future congresses could just overturn this if it passes. However, experience shows it is usually difficult to overturn liberal legislation once it passes.

I’m investing in good used trucks. There will be a good market for them in 10 years.

60 MPG would be much better. Such fools!

Why aren't we pushing for a garbage driven vehicle?

We really should be cutting to the chase.

Think of all the people who would be made happy except for garbage pick up people.

Meaningless legislation is rated anymore.

Good meaningless legislation to bad meaningless legislation.

It's show of appreciation is via political credits..

This delivers the coup de grace to the dying US auto industry.

I’m gonna keep my Fords and GMC; they’re museum pieces.

This just in...Castro plans to finance his whole economy by selling his 'classic' 60's era car and truck collection at the next US car auction. /sarc

GM said that if this passed, the Camaro would die, and the V8s would all be cancelled.

HEY you gues hear about that car they got? It runs on water man....only they won’t make it because they know that if they use up all the water then the common man will drink beer man....and then no one will obey all the laws....because they’ll all be drunk on beer.....
......hyde

also

you know they had this guy see back in 1952 well he invented this special carbuetor.....and it was connected to a big Packard.....and they poured a thimble full of gass into it....and it ran 50 miles on just that one thimbleful gas....but the big oil companys bought the plans for that carb. and then and then they destroyed those plans....
but one copy has survived and its hidden in a safe in ARCO’S basement. Congress knows they got that copy of those plans and now they are raising the cafe standards so BIG OIL has to
open that safe and start makin that carb. to end our oil crises.....cagey eh?

That’s over a 100% increase over every other GM owner of one of those I’ve ever heard pre-2007.

Must have a hell of a tailwind wherever you go

1,000 MPG would be better yet. While they’re being ridiculous.

I bought a Camry last year. The best highway mileage I have gotten is 34. I thought that was pretty good.

These turkeys want 35. That would be great if they outlawed all big trucks off the Highways so they couldnt run down these roller skates on wheels.

Look for the death toll to mount.

Seat belts, air bags, side air bags. Nothing is going to help much when a dump truck with 25 tons of gravel goes over that Geo.

This is my 4th new Silverado. My last one had the 4.8 V8 and got 19 mpg on a similar drive. The previous 2 Chevy pu’s got 17-19 hwy. Keep in mind that this 21 mpg was on cruise control and on the flats with no hills or city driving. Tailwind? Don’t know. Blew me away.
