I noticed that you live in north central Illinois, I live in Pekin, Illinois. I don’t buy alcohol myself but I have seen people my age being carded. I am 61 yrs old. I asked a clerk about it once and he said it was “store policy”.

Just plain stupid.

Anyone who should not drink should have a symbol in red on their license not only the underage but the guy/gal with two DUI’s. Then a 100% ID check would make more sense and help keep drunks off the road and out of the bars.

If illegals were denied access to their drink of choice, they would surely go home.

Not likely. When US citizens were denied the drink of their choice (Prohibition), the booze continued to flow...smuggled in from Canada and elsewhere.

The store probably got busted selling to minors, so now they card everyone so they don't get fined again or lose their LL..

I noticed that you live in north central Illinois, I live in Pekin, Illinois.

I'm in Rochelle. We had Eagle's until they went under, and were replaced by Sullivans. It was Sullivans that initiated the policy.

They must have had a lot of complaints (likely even from non-alcohol customers because they had to wait unnecessarily), and finally abolished the policy.

Regardless of the law, kids will always attempt to buy alcohol illegally. They want what's forbidden. A blanket law like this will not stop them; nor will it stop the unscrupulous clerk. This is especially true in liquor stores where management may not always be on site, or where people aren't standing in line. All one would have to do is go through the motions with the underage buyer to fool any camera. The only way such a law could be enforced is if we are all issued new ID cards that would be swipe-able (bar coded). And I don't want to go there!

Have to run...things to do. Have a fine day.

I’m older than you. My local grocery store (Wisconsin Copps/ Roundy’s) requires an ID for booze purchases AND a stupid store card so I can benefit from the ‘sale price’. Now that we have a WMT Superstore, I don’t have to deal out a store card when I shop WMT.

Quite true. This also supports my idea that drug dealers selling to children should be shot on sight.

The first time a non-resident of Tn is refused, this goes to court as an inhibitor of interstate commerce and gets struck down.

here in Phoenix we have Mobil on the run gas and convience stations.....I had em make a ham and swiss hoagy and wanted a pack of smokes. At the counter she wanted ID for the smokes. I’m 51 white hair and white goutee. I said don’t I look over 21 ? She said if my father was buying the butts she would need ID.

I told her she was selling ID’s then cause this is no state or federal law and left all on the counter.

No money in the world could get me to step foot in a Mobil gas station ever again.I do mean EVER too

Does this mean that Illegal Aliens will no longer be able to buy beer in TN?

NO!This means that illegal aliens will have to buy new counterfeit cards. A new unlawful market for the illegals. Stupid gringos will have to pay for a card and think they have done something good.LOLOLOL

I worked at a C-Store in Hattiesburg while in college. The night guy got busted selling to a minor so the manager instituted a “card all” policy.

It lasted a day. People were livid.

In 1971 I was in flight school at Fort Rucker, on my way to Vietnam. We were warned to place any Class VI (alcohol) in the trunk when driving off post. That summer the Alabama legislature passed a law which said ABC revenue funded monies could go to wet counties only. The dry counties quickly got with the changing times.

Ask the Kennedys. That's one of the ways they made their bundle.
