As the Senate prepares to resume debate the comprehensive immigration reform bill, the legislation continues to face broad public opposition. In fact, despite a massive White House effort, public opinion has barely moved since the public uproar stalled the bill just over two weeks ago.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 22% of American voters currently favor the legislation. Thats down a point from 23% a couple of weeks ago and down from 26% when the debate in the Senate began. Fifty percent (50%) oppose the Senate bill while 28% are not sure.
Among the public, there is a bi-partisan lack of enthusiasm for the Senate bill. It is supported by 22% of Republicans, 23% of Democrats, and 22% of those not affiliated with either major party. It is opposed by 52% of Republicans, 50% of Democrats, and 48% of unaffiliateds.
From an ideological perspective, the bill is opposed by 59% of conservatives, 54% of liberals, and 45% of political moderates. Among those for whom none of the traditional ideological labels apply, just 20% are opposed.
Support is found from 20% of conservatives, 32% of liberals, and 18% of moderates.
Just 32% believe it would be better to pass the current bill instead of doing nothing. Forty-five percent (45%) believe it would be better to pass nothing at all...

In any given group, roughly 5% are criminals and 15% are clueless. For Lieberals, the percentages are much higher. One would think for conservatives, the percentages would be much lower.
Great news! The poll numbers are sinking for this turkey of a bill. Kill the turkey.
That would be the conservatives who profit from cheap labor, and pass the social upkeep costs of their illegals to the other taxpayers.
The Poll:
So, 150% of the voting public is against this bill!
Take the hint Jorge, AND DROP IT!!
“Great news! The poll numbers are sinking for this turkey of a bill. Kill the turkey.”
Kill the Bill Vol I and II this thing has more lives than a siamese cat, 22% in favor, and 80% of conservatives are opposed to this merde’ and yet they plow forward and send out fundraising letters that are falling on deaf ears.
They don’t “get” it.
Voters on the left AND the right mostly oppose this bill. Barbara Boxer is ashamed to be seen voting for it, although she may pull a bait & switch with her cloture vote. The only people who are for it are illegal Mexicans, extreme otherworldly bleeding heart liberals, and big business.
The only reasons why congress may be willing to pass it are huge bribes and payoffs from big business and idiot visions of a North American Union on the part of some establishment politicians like, apparently, Bush.
I wouldn’t want to a Senator running for reelection in 08.
For weeks, the DBM has been railing against all the “racist” Republicans who oppose this bill. Come to find out, Democrats are just as “racist” as the Republicans.
bump
Wow. If the Senate passes this thing they will be alienating the entire nation, not just Republicans. They must be really tuned out!
“Just 32% believe it would be better to pass the current bill instead of doing nothing.”
The Rovian/Bush/Chertoff/Democrat meme is working a little.
I got another one today. It went back sans dollars and on their stamp. AND I told 'em why!
ping
I favor permanently stalling this bill!
Imagine how many would be against if they all the details were widely known and understood.
....Except when Rasmussen says something we DON’T agree with.
Then it’s just a useless poll.
Yeah, try finding the details in your local paper. The MSM is burying this whole story, because the bill stinks beyond their ability to spin it favorably. Relegate it to a few paragraphs on Page A5, cross their fingers and hope no one notices. If someone does notice, cite talk radio for hyperbole.
