Another update: Ask for "Allie"! She's the Burr shill whose either so misinformed or mendacious as to be claiming to people that the cloture vote isn't "real." Only the vote on the bill itself -- virtually guaranteed passage! -- is the "real" vote, where Burr will probably cast a knowingly-meaningless symbolic vote against.
Douchebag-- we care not about symbolic votes. We care about the votes that matter. The cloture vote is the real vote.
By the way, if you want something that is sadly amusing.The two different people who've answered the phone at Senator Burr's office couldn't tell me his stance on Comprehensive Piece of Crap. So I'm going to send an e-mail where I've changed my voter status from Republican to Democrat and explain that I'll be submitted if he votes yes.
I kind of felt sorry for the girl on the phone, she's obviously been abused today until she actually said "I don't understand why people are so upset about it. Its not even a "real vote" yet."
This is what we're fighting against -- their belief that we're f*cking retarded. People like Burr believe -- wrongly -- they can get away with defying their constituents and paying off their corporate lobbyist contributors through this Yes to Cloture No on the Bill split-vote. They really, really think we're so uninformed that this should "count" as real opposition to the bill.
They have to be told that it does not work anymore. This is not f*cking 1965, assholes.

Burr sounds like he thinks he can BS his way through this.
If this is his stance, I won’t forget this vote. This will make it personal and I can’t wait to vote against Burr, assuming he runs again.
Cloture vote is it for us. Burr’s idiotic “touchback” amendment is still amnesty and even that tiny concession will never survive Ted Kennedy and conference. Any Senator who sells us out we will not forget.

I can hardly wait to be part of that vote. At the last election I was in the booth for 45 minutes going down EACH LIST. I believe I will not be alone in `08 doing this.
Look, most of these very dangerous, very UNfunny clowns understand that more Americans know the names of the contestants on Americn Idol than know the names of their senators and reps.
THESE people are those who shouldn’t even be in the same zip code with a polling place on election days.
If this country CAN be saved at this late date, those of us who DO grasp what’s happening one election at a time MUST compensate for that ignorance and apathy.
Those who refuse to involve themselves in civic matters are destined to be governed by their inferiors.

TRANSLATION: "You people are so ignorant that I will slickly pull off voting for cloture that I will later portray as strictly procedural and then against the Amnesty Bill even though I know that my YES vote on cloture is what will allow it to pass. I will then overwhelm any primary opponent I might have with tons of campaign cash donated to me by Big Business in exchange for voting the right way on cloture to allow this Amnesty Bill to pass. With enough campaign spending I can fool enough of you idiot voters to return me to office because I can pretend that my NO vote on Amnesty was the important vote. Not that silly procedural cloture vote that allowed this bill to live...and pass."

It gives him cover to show to his ignorant constituents and gets the job done for his big contributors. He will not be alone in these actions.
Watch how loudly he will tout his no vote on Amnesty while trying to pass off his YES vote on cloture as merely a minor procedural matter. That is the type of sleazy con job Burr will try to pull off. Then he will crybaby about Talk Radio when it is pointed out what an incredible HYPOCRITE he is.
