Burr's Office Lies To Constituent: "It [Cloture] Isn't Even A Real Vote Yet"
Ace Of Spades HQ ^ | June 25, 2007 | Ace

Posted on 06/26/2007 4:01:51 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

This story via a blogger who I won't name until he says it's all right to do so. Okay, he said it's all right -- it's Phin of Agent Bedhead, who also is the guy currently fixing this awful site. (He's really good!)

Another update: Ask for "Allie"! She's the Burr shill whose either so misinformed or mendacious as to be claiming to people that the cloture vote isn't "real." Only the vote on the bill itself -- virtually guaranteed passage! -- is the "real" vote, where Burr will probably cast a knowingly-meaningless symbolic vote against.

Douchebag-- we care not about symbolic votes. We care about the votes that matter. The cloture vote is the real vote.

By the way, if you want something that is sadly amusing.

The two different people who've answered the phone at Senator Burr's office couldn't tell me his stance on Comprehensive Piece of Crap. So I'm going to send an e-mail where I've changed my voter status from Republican to Democrat and explain that I'll be submitted if he votes yes.

I kind of felt sorry for the girl on the phone, she's obviously been abused today until she actually said "I don't understand why people are so upset about it. Its not even a "real vote" yet."

This is what we're fighting against -- their belief that we're f*cking retarded. People like Burr believe -- wrongly -- they can get away with defying their constituents and paying off their corporate lobbyist contributors through this Yes to Cloture No on the Bill split-vote. They really, really think we're so uninformed that this should "count" as real opposition to the bill.

They have to be told that it does not work anymore. This is not f*cking 1965, assholes.

Okay, strong language here but who can blame Ace when faced with this obvious lying and evasiveness from Burr's office?

Cloture vote is it for us. Burr’s idiotic “touchback” amendment is still amnesty and even that tiny concession will never survive Ted Kennedy and conference. Any Senator who sells us out we will not forget.

Of course it is. Any mexican embassy is their "home country" and counts whether we like it or not and probably where the mexicans will put the "officials" with the rubber stamps. This will mean the "touchback" procedure will be nothing more than a city bus ride downtown.

Yet another boot in the butt of the American Citizen in this never ending revelation of just how arrogant politicians really are these days.

Arrogance that needs to be cut out of government like a cancer. There will be a backlash in the `08 election that will make `94 look like just a practice run.

I can hardly wait to be part of that vote. At the last election I was in the booth for 45 minutes going down EACH LIST. I believe I will not be alone in `08 doing this.

Look, most of these very dangerous, very UNfunny clowns understand that more Americans know the names of the contestants on Americn Idol than know the names of their senators and reps.

THESE people are those who shouldn’t even be in the same zip code with a polling place on election days.

If this country CAN be saved at this late date, those of us who DO grasp what’s happening one election at a time MUST compensate for that ignorance and apathy.

Those who refuse to involve themselves in civic matters are destined to be governed by their inferiors.

America today is living proof of that.

TRANSLATION: "You people are so ignorant that I will slickly pull off voting for cloture that I will later portray as strictly procedural and then against the Amnesty Bill even though I know that my YES vote on cloture is what will allow it to pass. I will then overwhelm any primary opponent I might have with tons of campaign cash donated to me by Big Business in exchange for voting the right way on cloture to allow this Amnesty Bill to pass. With enough campaign spending I can fool enough of you idiot voters to return me to office because I can pretend that my NO vote on Amnesty was the important vote. Not that silly procedural cloture vote that allowed this bill to live...and pass."

Here is a list of the 12 “fence-sitter” Senate contacts for EVERYONE to email regarding immigration. Many offices are putting calls straight to voicemail and they can just trash faxes (and letters take weeks to get through due to security). Hit Hill staff where they are so codependent - their Blackberries! Send email directly to staff - not just the generic Senate office mailbox. Contact their Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and Press Secretary. Make your voice heard!!

For the Democrats, I would strongly suggest taking a pro-union/anti-illegal alien stance (i.e. “they are taking our jobs”) rather than using the conservative national security angle.

Here's the message back to Burr -- If you don't think that the cloture is a "real" vote, then we don't think you are a "real" Senator. If you're really that dumb, you need a different line of work. And if you think WE'RE that dumb, you certainly don't belong in politics.

I have the feeling here that Burr is the KEY vote. If Burr can be persuaded to announce that he will vote NO on Cloture, that would be enough to turn around a bunch of other Republican fence sitters (and even current cloture supporters) like Bond and Voinovich.

BURR IS THE KEY VOTE. HIS ANNOUNCEMENT OF "NO" ON CLOTURE WILL TURN AROUND ENOUGH OF THE OTHERS TO DEFEAT THIS SHAMNESTY BILL.

If Burr supports cloture then is political career will be forever OVER and his name will be eternally cursed for allowing our nation to be destroyed by this Amnesty Bill.

BURR IS THE KEY!!! He is the one who will determine whether or not this shameful SHAMNESTY BILL passes!!!

The maddening thing is that what you described is exactly what will go down this or next week, and Burr will be just one of many lying pols who will successfully pull off that same scam on dumbed down voters who don't bother to read below the headlines and spend their evenings watching junk TV. If I was a gambling man I would bet that not even one in ten NC voters will ever know or care how Burr votes on cloture or on the bill itself. And of the one in ten who does care, not one in ten of those will realize that Burr conned them into thinking he opposed amnesty by voting against the bill that his previous vote allowed to come to the floor. And Burr knows that as well as you and I do.

Most Americans deserve to get this kind of crappy, dishonest government and the snake oil peddlers who run it, but those of us who care and pay attention shouldn't have to put up with this crap. Voting is way too easy in the US, there should be some qualifications for voting other than just being a citizen with a pulse.

Well, I have to split out now. I will be following this Shamnesty Bill vote on the road via radio with PARTICULAR attention to Senator Burr.

I have the strong gut feeling that Burr is the ONE who can either defeat or pass this shameful Shamnesty Bill. If he announce NO on cloture, I am sure that will be the incentive for a bunch of Republican fence sitters (and even some current cloture supporters) to vote NO on cloture. If Burr votes YES on cloture then the nation-destroying Shamnesty Bill will eventually pass.

So it ALL comes down to YOU, Senator Burr. Do you want to prevent the destruction of our country by voting NO on cloture or will you end up forever CURSED by allowing the Shamnesty Bill to pass by the sleazy gimmick of voting YES on cloture but no on Shamnesty...thus allowing it to pass.

The decision is YOURS, Senator Burr. It all comes down to YOU!!!

ONE person can now decide the fate of the Shamesty Bill---Senator Burr.

The condemnation of Sen Burr is presumptuously unfounded as he has a record of resisting cloture motions.

His voting record and his press releases tend to contradict assertions the Senator would support cloture this time.

I hope I’m right....

I will remember Elizabeth Dole and her NO vote and also Burr and his vote... I already called his office several times and early on expected him to vote NO by what his office had said.

What a turncoat... he will not be forgotten by me for sure.

Burr needs to realize an AYE on cloture is an AYE on the entire bill. The cloture vote is more important than his final vote on this horrendous bill. This vote is where it counts.

His silly amendment is bullsh!te, meaning nothing! It's his excuse for a moment of glory and having it both ways, not to do anything really meaningful. It's an act of a spineless compromiser.

If he weasels on this one, he's going to be toast in his next election. I'll work to make sure of that.

I have been all over those phone numbers and emails. Funny thing is that there is ZERO response from his office. No "thank you" emails no information on the the other end of the phone either.

I am going to call and email today and tomorrow but I can say that I really think I am wasting my time with this guy. He has made it clear that he is not serving the people.

I also moved to NC recently. Too many Liberals have moved here from the NE. Funny that they all fled the Taxation and corrupt Government of their home state, but are bent on having the same insanity flourish here in NC. Go figure.

The only yahoo here is Burr. And all of his collegues that think we are stupid enough to fall with this. They vote for cloture, we’ll tell their constituents the truth. they voted for amnesty.

Call them and reiterate we’re not yahoos and we know it’s a vote for amnesty if you haven’t.

Ingraham is doing a call in to all Senators this morning, right now whse’s on hold for Coleman. Who’s trying to avoid answering, they are playing lame music instead of picking up.
