I’m a Christian who doesn’t identify with any of the *organized* religions. IMO, these people are making a grave error with this resolution.

Methodists?
Don't like Jews or Israel?
Oh my!
What will Israel and the JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS do?

Seriously, to my Methodist fellow freepers, don't sweat it.
Jews have been targeted ny Pros and survived.
Don't concern yourselves.
But,...if you want to do something cool.In spite of your church’s actions, schedule a two week tour of Israel. Stay at a decent hotel, take the tour and enjoy the trip of a lifetime.
Imagine. Sitting where Jesus may have sat, and enjoying the view of the things Jesus may have looked at.
It is very cool. If you are Jewish, it is as cool. Step where your forefathers stepped 5 or 6 thousand years ago. How’s THAT for continuity.
Real Jews dont sweat Methodists or the World Council of Churches. Or the National of Churches. or any individual anti JOOOOOOOOOOOISH group.

That may well be true. But, if a church uses itself to further a political agenda, then loss of tax exempt status could/should, be the price paid. It really should not be based on if it is liberal or conservative agenda.

Truth be told though, this will never happen.

This resolution comes from an area of the country/denomination which in every respect has entirely left its Christian and Wesleyan roots.

The "Confessing Movement" is still active, and has had a positive impact on the denomination in many respects - just not in this "progressive" annual conference.

Check out their website to learn more: www.confessingumc.org . (I don't know how to create a link; sorry.)

I’ve been a FR reader for a long time, but only put up a few posts here and there. Feel free to help me get this around, You experienced Freepers.
Personally, I’m not real into major debate, but want to let these folks know how we feel about this issue.
Staying quiet won’t help educate the mass of people that really don’t have a clue of what is going on over there.
You know, those Palestinians who have elected Hamas to lead them?
Preamble of Hamas: Israel will exist and only exist until Islam obliterates it.
Who are we to say that Israel cannot build a wall to protect themselves from having these nomads come into their country, and blow themselves up at their child’s birthday party?
Help getting this where it needs to go, would be very much appreciated.

No.
Don't just go away.
Do exactly what you want to do.
It is not for me to tell Baptists or Methodists, or Buddhists or Catholics, or anyone what to do.
Of how to do it.
Seize your own churches.
Direct the course of action you feel is correct.
I keep seeing bumper stickers saying: “What would Jesus do?”
Well?
Is THAT question rhetorical?
Belong where you feel comfortable.
As for Jews and Israelis, we do not sweat the petty bullshit of organized religions very much. Even our own.
A couple of thousand years of experience dealing with the likes and dislikes of various religions have provided a lesson plan that is clearly to be followed.
You like Jews? OK. You don't like Jews? Also OK. Israel and Jews WILL survive.
have a conscience clear weekend.

I'm glad of that. It will take much work and dedication on their part to keep the UMC from going the way of the ELCA and others.
