I am totally disgusted with this resolution that was recently voted upon. I can only guess that most of those who were voting, really have no clue as to what goes on over there. Please read the Entire document. This is a 100 page pdf file, and the pages we are concerned with are pages 60-61. I will be composing my letters and emails tonight. Thanks Freepers!! ZAKJAN

I resigned my family’s 10 year old membership from our Methodist Church here in Texas last week after discussing whether or not the Bible is the literal word of God. Uur new pastor hesitated and then hem-hawed around finally saying it was open to interpretation in some cases.

Uur = Our

The particular points of discussion were openly practicing sodomites in the church membership and leadership, immigration stance, lack of a rock solid no-holds-barred abortion stance, and 1st Timothy prohibition on women pastors.

Had been brewing for a while.

The UM church is getting more and more liberal. Before hubby and I left the UMC, there was a ‘confessing’ movement to try to bring the church back to biblical beliefs. Doesn’t seem to have gained much ground.

I find this interesting. I have been looking for a church in my area that really preaches the Word of God without compromise. A friend recommended a local Methodist church. Welllll, I guess not.

Some UMC churches are pretty conservative. You have to shop around.

* demolition of Palestinian homes.

Haha, all the companies involved in the Israeli "aggression" are so profitable, hopefully the Methodist bastards will bankrupt their pension in no time!

What’s a Palestinian Economy?

Every time Israel blows up a suicide belt factory, it puts 20 people out of work!

I am now becoming a Catholic. A difficult and not perfect choice, but Pope Benedict has a lot more going for him than the leadership of the UMC.

Aren’t they a little “late to the party” with that kinda talk?
Aren’t Palestinians destroying each other’s homes now?

There are some conservative churches but they are getting fewer under pressure of the National Conference. OUr old pastor always told me to be patient that change was coming but I see the one coming and it is not the direction he said it was coming from.

My church was a little right of middle, but our pastor moved on and we got a new one. Our new liberal pastor and some things in our conference like a woman bishop caused me to rethink where portions of my tithe were going and what was being pushed on my kids at summer camp and Sunday School.

I started in this church on behalf of my wife, who is even tired of the left creeping, so we are shopping and will more than likely end up back in SBC where I grew up.

In the same document, on page 59, is a resolution regarding a relaxation in church doctrine on homosexuality...

RESOLUTION TO THE CONFERENCE (CC)
We move that the Baltimore Washington Conference petition the General Conference to delete from Paragraph 161 (G) of the Discipline the following sentence:
“The United Methodist Church does not condone the practice of homosexuality and consider[s] this practice incompatible with Christian teaching.”

The adopted text of such a petition would be as follows:
Petition to General Conference: Homosexuality Not Incompatible with Christian Teaching

A palestinian economy is a large thug class who pilfer money from NGO’s and the UN so they can spend their days praying to allah to destroy Israel.

I went to a Methodist church over Christmas because my niece was performing. The Pastor quoted something from a far left web site and led the congregation (from the readings book) in a prayer about how God forgive us for building machines of war and knocking down trees.

He then gave a sermon about how he was upset about people calling God a God of judgement and how we should instead be full of joy. He used a proof text from Isaiah that started out with joy and then stated God will punish evildoers. But the pastor only read the first half!

I did notice on the web the other day an offshoot from the Methodists known as Primitive Methodists. Some of them look a little more Jesus centered.

My UMC adheres to it’s Wesleyan roots. The Methodists are a pretty diverse bunch...some are liberal, and some are conservative.

I’ll tell you where you will find a basic, traditional church that subscribes to every commandment, and that is the Tridentine Mass within the Catholic Church. We are an “underground” movement with a lot of opposition within the USCCB (U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops), but if it weren’t for the Tridentine Mass, I would not be a Catholic anymore.

I’m not a member of the Methodist Church, but I am a Christian. Our Church believes we are all sinners and will be forgiven of all sins, (Past,Present & Future) by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior. He bore the penalty of Sin in place of His people. Mark 10:45
He redeems us from Sin. Titus 2:14; Acts 5:31,; James 5:15; Galatians 3: 8-13; Romans 6:1-23; Hebrews 9:10-18.
We try to live our lives in such a way to please God, but we know we’re forgiven if we goof up. So refreshing to have such an awesome Heavenly Father! (We also acknowledge all Denominations.) Blessings to all!
