Washington, D.C. By a vote of 65 to 34, the U.S. Senate voted today to proceed with debate on legislation granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants currently living in the United States. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) responded to the Senate vote by declaring it a vote for amnesty.
The Senate today demonstrated that it is not interested in listening to the American people, said Congressman Hunter. Rather than rejecting this legislation, the Senate instead voted to bring it one step closer to passage. Border security and interior enforcement are what the American people are demanding; not citizenship benefits for those living in the United States illegally. This bill, regardless of what my colleagues in the Senate may say, is still amnesty.
The idea that amnesty will have to be accepted in order to achieve border security is unacceptable, concluded Hunter. The American people want secure borders and that is what they deserve.
I meant he did NOT fool me.
“We need to up Hunters name recognition.”
Call a talk show, and I just mailed an editor’s letter about Hunter - hope it gets published by one or more of the papers that I sent it to.
And what do you call endless comments that Hunter can’t win?
Thanks for posting the names of 35 Senators who understand!
RINOs and elitists don't like pro-border security politicians. We saw it very well here in CD8, where the GOP did everything it possibly could to undermine and destroy the conservative, anti-amnesy candidate last year.
Damn right!!
And also note that Fred wants border security first. And wants to come up with a way to get most illegals to self-deport.
But don't bother inserting those leetle details in your efforts to alienate an ally in the fight over this bill.
Seriously, make the case for Hunter and resist the urge to bash a guy who isn't that far away from Hunter on this issue. We need the whole team pulling together now. This ain't the time to make points about 2008 when the sellout is going down now.
Read post 58. Fred is closer to Rudy than Hunter.
I believe Hunter, Fred Thompson, and Mitt Romney have made clear and correct statements on the Amnesty bill. They are the only ones who would get my vote at the top of the ticket. If itâs McCain or Giuliani vs. Clinton, the nation will have to make their choice without my vote or campaign contributions.
Bump to post #48 for the good guys who voted no for cloture!
Hey, there, people in MS and KY don’t like you talking about their senators that way. They really believe in Lott and McC and the hell with the rest of us.
The point is, he does not want this bill. He says we have to secure the borders first. If you find grounds to bash an ally in the battle we are facing over the next few days, I guess it's more important to you to score points for 2008 than fight Godzilla in 2007.
All three you mentioned would get my vote. Right now, I’m a fighting like hell to get a very deserving man, Hunter, into that top tier.
Without name ID, one cannot get anywhere in politics. To get name ID from the dumbed-down public requires big bucks. You also must not strike fear in the hearts of the public as the media does with conservatives.
Every email I send comes back undelivered. Guess they have my address blocked now, or they just are not receiving any emails this evening.
This is the only thing GWB has ever really fought for — he gave up on everything else. Only this really matters to him. And Jeb and the other Bushites and Bushbots.
People who express faith in Fred Thompson in 2007 remind one of the Bushbots, already assembled, in 1999. I predict the same tragedy down the line.
I agree. I came to that realization months ago. That is likely the kiss of death for the Hunter candidacy. I've been backing losers since. I was just old enough to vote. That is nearly four decades.
It's becoming painfully obvious to me that I am in a small minority that is getting smaller by the day. I don't know what to do about it.
The tip of the Republican Party are getting so arrogant that I can't stand them any more.
I'm at a loss as to what to do about it.
I agree he has been eloquent as of late against this bill. But the bottom line is there is a difference between the two positions, and I wanted to let Jimrob know that. Hunter has been nothing short of a bulldog on illegal immigration since the early 1980s. That MUST count for more than good words in a campaign, IMO.
