I heard that, too. And wasn't it Geraldo who said it probably wasn't al Qaeda because they used a Mercedes instead of the piece-of-junk-type cars they drive in Iraq. Let's see they also said it was probably just the IRA or an angry boyfriend because it was Ladies Night.
Curious to see what the networks were doing since Fox covered the story for three hours straight, I flipped over to find Matt Lauer in a museum discussing Princess Diana's evening gowns.

I just heard on CNN a few minutes ago, that it “probably wasn’t al Qaeda, but homegrown”. Their brilliant reasoning backing up this claim, is that if it was al Qaeda, the bombs wouldn’t have malfunctioned. Unbelievable idiocy.
What is the agenda behind these claims?
