US Warned of Glasgow Threat Two Weeks Ago
ABC News Blog ^ | June 30, 2007 | Richard Esposito and Rhonda Schwartz

U.S. law enforcement officials received intelligence reports two weeks ago warning of a possible terror attack in Glasgow against "airport infrastructure or aircraft," a senior US law enforcement officials tells the Blotter on ABCNews.com.

The intelligence reports also warned that airports and aircraft in the Czech Republic could be the targets of al Qaeda-connected terrorists.

The warnings were kept secret for operational reasons, according to officials. In public, the White House and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff have continued to maintain they know of no specific or credible threats involving the United States, even though the intelligence reports specify US aircraft as possible targets.

A US official told ABCNews.com that the intelligence reports led to the assignment of Federal Air Marshals to flights into and out of both Glasgow and Prague.

Air marshals had been added to flights into and out of Germany late last month, based on similar warnings.

Nope, unfortunately, I brought it from Free Republic.

What gets me is who put the fire out on the slime who was on fire?

Someone with a higher moral standard than the bum who wanted to kill people? Just sayin'....

Lord help me, but this thread is a hoot:-D Sometimes gallows humor is called for on dark days, like the recent ones our British cousins are suffering through.

I’ve seen comments on FR like that, on occasion. No, I don’t have any links, and no I personally refuse to believe it of our President. I still have trouble wrapping my mind over all the mischief caused by the Clintons.

You know, I just never have understood why some on this forum just have to support President Bush regardless of what he supports and accuse anyone of being from DU who disagrees with the current party line. I have never voted for a democrat and as far as I can see, never will. Why do we have to be like most democrats and say ‘our party/president right or wrong’? If we keep on doing that, we will keep on getting more of the same. People called, wrote, emailed, and made themselves heard about the immigration bill and it got stopped - this time. I oppose the president on immigration, and some other issues. That does not make one a DU plant. We need to let our leaders know we WON’T support them right or wrong. It worked with the immigration bill and has a chance of continuing to work,if we will speak up.

What must be understood is the ramifications of someone Other than President Bush, given our choices. He has been a fine President during this trying time on most fronts.

Some of us disagree on on his domestic issues (illegal immigration), but to say we want a different candidate than what was offered would be ludicrous. He is a fine man whom differs with some of us on important issues. That's all..

I’m not sure on what front he’s been a fine President. Size and cost of gov’t driven up with center-left ideas like No Child Left Behind and Prescription Drug Coverage. Significant tactical and strategic errors in executing the war in Iraq. Failure to rally the country with abysmal public speaking skills. Willingness to compromise with Dems again on immigration. Squandered a once-in-a-generation majority building opportunity, lacked the will to build up forces in Iraq to adequate levels to secure the country.

I’m sure I’ll be attacked by many, but it’s time to start dealing with the W legacy. It is not pretty for the party. We have lost our conservative tether on many issues, and he has been a catalyst for much of that. It does no good to whine about the leftist media, H-wood, and other left-wing groups. These exist and will continue to exist. The President’s job is lead the country and vanquish these forces intellectually and politically. To do that in today’s world, one has to be an effective public speaker. W is as bad now, if not worse, than when he started.

Considering the idealogical and political momentum that Reagan left office with, the Bush legacy will be to have reversed the momentum. Those are the facts.

Well of course we are targets, and anyone who doesn’t know that hasn’t been paying attention, right? I heard we weren’t raising the terror level. I suppose since most people just laugh at it anyway. Someday however.....!

Thanks for your facts, and I hope you had a good pissed-off release there. Now focus on Al Gore being your President, and him blaming the military for Global-Warming, since that is our greatest threat.

Who was your candidate in 2004? O'truthful one, and please feel free to explain! I believe President Bush is a Good man, whom is trying to bring together an overwhelming outcome. That's all.

‘The issue is Illegal immigration.’

I agree and I don’t believe the President has handled illegal immigration well either. I think there are many reason we won’t stop it - one being that big business wants the cheap labor and we haven’t made a big enough stink yet to make the powers that be stop the flow, perhaps we never will. Sanctions to those that hire them would make a biig dent, but enough of this. This is not an immigration thread.

My reason for posting was the ‘we need to support the president regardless’ mindset I was reading. That is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.

He’s a good man who seems to want us to be Mexico north. He approved of the excreable immigation bill. I don’t want to go there. I’m hoping if we stand up and yell and tell our congress critters what we will and will not set still for, we may have better choices - eventually.

Our problem extends beyond the Mexico border. The Muslim World is on attack, and nobody in our present leadership will acknowledge (pubicly) this is the case. America is under attack, and I'm willing to give the power to Jefferson to quell it.

Unfortunately Larry King is in charge....

As long as the burn grafts use pigskin. I'm okay with putting the fire out.

I agree with you about the Muslims on the attack thing. Which is one reason, among many, that I’m so concerned about the lack of border control. Shouldn’t we make it a tiny bit harder to get here?

I gave it to him too by voting for him - I just wish he’d use it. Muslims can come over that border too.

I have a grandson and I wish to leave him an English speaking country and hopefully the chance for decent job at a wage on which he can support himself and a family.

I did not suggest it be made public. For many Americans this is a Brit problem, they think the US is immune, they need to wake up.
