New York, July 1: Recently discovered, never-before-seen film footage of Adolf Hitler, which reveals a charismatic side of the Nazi leader, is all set to air on television.
The rare footage was discovered in a home in New York City`s Staten Island. The film, which shows the leader of the Nazi Party at a Richard Wagner music festival, will be aired on the PBS television series "The History Detectives."
The 16-mm film reel was originally discovered in 1945 by an American GI in Bayreuth, Germany. He sent the reel to his brother in the US, who stored it in his basement. The film sat there until being rediscovered 10 years ago and has not been viewed until recently.
Host of "The History Detectives" and history professor at Columbia University, Gwendolyn Wright said the film is historically valuable because it shows Hitler as a charismatic politician.
"You get an insight into his world and an insight into how a large number of Germans could find this exciting and appealing. He`s not a monster in this," said Wright.
"Instead, you see something that is so human; something that could very easily be appealing almost anywhere."
The reel was analyzed by Wright with the help of Washington DC`s Holocaust Memorial Museum. Although she says that there are always doubts over a historical artifacts authenticity, the footage "certainly does seem as if this is true."
The History Detectives airs in the US on Monday evenings on PBS; the episode featuring the Hitler footage will debut on September 3.
Why is the hair on my neck raised?
“Why is the hair on my neck raised?’
Your dad was a peacock?
Oh wow, are we going to revise the Hitler history now. The revisionists never quit. Ted Bundy was likeable too. Wonder if they can find his home movies.
I also heard there is a film of him petting dogs and kissing babies... maybe he was just misunderstood. /s
WTF is this? They forgot to credit “The Onion”?
You been reading some of my old posts, eh? ;)
it wasn’t hitler, it was the conservative, right-wing germans that were the evil ones /sarc
Good, perfect timing to compare the footage to other “leaders” like Chavez and Ahmendjjeded
Such a swell little man Hitler was.
I want to throw up...
...Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. - II Corinthians 11:14-15
In fact he was a charismatic figure. Look at the famous film on the Nurnbuerg Rally. On the other side, don’t forget that he was able to overawe many German generals. His father, the Devil, gave him many gifts so he would be able to destroy so many others and even himself.
Throw out the history books—they need to be rewritten. Oh, that’s right. They don’t teach that kind of history anymore, it would offend someone. /s
Maybe this could give the psychologist/psychiatrists something evaluate and expound on so we can understand and rehabilitate the killers in the prisons.
PBS can air Hitler but they could not air that Islamist hit piece that Edy Hill did last week-end. God, will they ever quit feeding us propaganda.
very Peggy Flemingish....
In other news, Idi Amin really, really liked people.
