Foes question vote $witch: Say Deval rewarded pol for gay-wed vote (MA Gov bought votes)

Opponents of gay marriage are sharply questioning a budget filing by supporter Gov. Deval Patrick that offers $737,000 for the district of a state lawmaker who switched his vote to help kill a proposed constitutional ban on gay weds.
The money, included in a supplemental budget filed late Friday, would help pay for the Southbridge Community Center in the district of state Rep. Geraldo Alicea (D-Charlton), one of 11 lawmakers who switched sides on gay marriage to help Patrick defeat the ban.
We are absolutely concerned about this, said Kris Mineau, a spokesman for VoteOnMarriage.org, which led a ballot initiative to ban gay nuptials. Its very curious that a representative . . . whose only significant action in office has been to vote against the marriage amendment he repeatedly said he would support suddenly gets a $730,000 windfall.
Alicea, a freshman lawmaker, denied that the money was part of a deal for his vote. The lawmaker said he never met with the governor to discuss the issue, and that it wasnt pressure from within the State House that caused him to change his mind, but rather pressure from his district.
It was the phone calls, the e-mails and the letters. It was 4 to 1 against the amendment.

The sleaze behind what happened in the MA legislature is staggering. IMO, Deval Patrick is the worst governor in America. He thwarted the Democratic process which was absolutely wrong.
The funny thing is that the liberals may have hurt themselves far more than they helped themselves, thanks to the fact they have totally left themselves open to allegations that robbed the voters of the chance to have their say. Why didn't they just win the initiative fair and square? Because that would have been truly Democratic!
Voting Democratic is simply no longer an option for me.

The Deval is in the details.

How these people sleep at night is beyond me.

This crap was going on up here long before Mitt Romney was on the scene.

This is a major reason why I don’t support Romney for the GOP pres. nomination. He didn’t have the faith to go before the voters for a 2nd term, yet he wants to be elected President? He left his state in the hands of the Deval. Sorry but no dice, Mr. Romney.

It was precisely that "crap" that dear Romney had pledged to do something about... before he had a few setbacks and decided to abandon his state and his party to further his political career (nevermind he has no record of accomplishment as Governor that would justify a run for President, unless you count DeVal Patrick, since that's the one thing he deserves full credit for -- then he should be well qualified to be the Democrat nominee for President).

Yup, and telling the crowds what they want to hear... not what he did, nor what he believes. He pulled that schtick running for office in MA, but he has another thing coming if he's going to do it with GOP primary voters nationwide. All this guy did was make Massachusetts even safer for Democrat/Marxist candidates. And now he wants a promotion and reward for it ? He's running in the wrong party.

Is any of this truly supposed to finally make a majority of Massachusetts voters decide from now on to no longer vote for the Democrats at every political level? Too many of these voters have Massachusetts political connections. Patronage runs very high throughout the entire state of Massachusetts.

What do you expect from a Democrat?

You say yourself "he had a few setbacks."
He found out that when the senate, legislature, courts and city halls are under the total and absolute control of corrupt dhimmicrats, a Republican governor is completely handicapped.
To give him credit for Coupe Deval is just ridiculous.
I'm not apologizing for him or supporting him -- just laying bare the facts.
Since you're in Tennessee, why do you care? My guess is you support another candidate for the Republican ticket. Did I get that right?
