Thanks for your comments. Very interesting look at recent Massachusetts state politics.

I’d agree, but with almost no viable GOP opposition and a moribund state party apparatus to work against DeVal, it’s not going to have the desired effect, at least not for the short run. If this were 1990, the party would’ve been strong enough to make substantial gains, but today... What you more likely might see is a factional battle within the rodents for control, but that’s about it.

MA has become almost as one-party as the Deep South pre-1970s, and it took over a century before there was a viable two-party system there again from after Reconstruction. It could conceivably become the first formerly premier GOP state to have one or both bodies of the legislature go completely one-party Democrat within the next few election cycles. Just that bad.

Sure thing, though that’s the brief version. I’ve written much longer essays on MA before. It’s sad, but it seems the state has become the very model for how NOT to run a state party, and yet several other states have done their damndest to COPY that model (including NJ, IL, and CA — all of which are going downhill rapidly).

I knew from all of your previously displayed emotion that it wasn’t Romney.

But all this bold, large type is over the top — calm down.

A guy like Weld deserves it and more.

On his watch as US Attorney a number of informants names were leaked to the FBI/Bulger gang resulting in their murders.

"I knew from all of your previously displayed emotion that it wasn’t Romney."

That what wasn't Romney ? Context would help.

"But all this bold, large type is over the top — calm down."

Obviously you're confused, so I'll help enlighten you. I place my responses in bold to distinguish my comments from whomever I happen to be responding to, if I'm quoting them. It has nothing to do with "emotion." If you check my posts, you'll note I do that regardless of the subject. BTW, what tends to signal "emotion" is typing in CAPS. ;-)

You learn something new every day. It would certainly be in keeping with his slimy character.

Perhaps, but the writer was referring to Romney.

"The population of Massachusetts shrinks every day. And who is it that is leaving? Middle-class and upper middle-class taxpaying, church-going, married parents. It’s showing up in both election results and policies."

The same thing has been going on in Connecticut for the last 20 years, it's only a matter of time before I'm outta here.
