Britain Must Reject Appeasement of Islamic Terrorists
The Heritage Foundation ^ | August 15, 2006 | Nile Gardiner, Ph.D.

Posted on 07/03/2007 10:41:17 AM PDT by khnyny

In an open letter to the British Prime Minister responding to last week’s successful anti-terror operations, the leaders of 38 Muslim groups and six Muslim politicians called for immediate changes to British foreign policy, which is “ammunition to extremists who threaten us all.”[1] The letter attacked the “debacle of Iraq” and, in reference to Israeli military action in Lebanon, faulted “the failure to do more to secure an immediate end to the attacks on civilians in the Middle East.” It stated that “current British government policy risks putting civilians at increased risk both in the U.K. and abroad.”

This letter is a wake-up call to the British government. It shatters any illusions that the government’s policy of engagement with leading “moderate” Muslim groups since the 2005 London bombings has reaped any benefits. Downing Street must now rethink its top-down approach to reaching out to the U.K.’s two million Muslims.

Coming just two days after the U.K. averted a 9/11-scale atrocity by arresting 24 British Muslim terror suspects, the Muslim leaders’ letter blames British foreign policy for the attempted attacks. This is a thinly veiled threat: Britain should expect more terror attacks unless it changes its worldview. The letter does not condemn the terrorists involved, attempting instead to establish moral equivalence between the Anglo-American-led war on terror and the actions of brutal terrorists.

Apparently, the British haven't learned anything.

Some say insanity is doing the same thing, again, and again, and again, and expecting a different outcome...

Britain Must Reject Appeasement of Islamic Terrorists.

Somebody please change, thanks.

Yes.

I especially liked this part:

“The open letter by Muslim leaders is a cynical act of disloyalty toward Britain. It echoes the propaganda of militant Islamic extremist organizations like al-Qaeda, expounding the view that the West is to blame for terrorist attacks because of its support for Israel and its actions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other parts of the Islamic world. After the 2005 London bombings, al-Qaeda’s second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri told the British people in a taped broadcast that “Blair’s policies brought you destruction in central London and will bring you more destruction,” warning of further attacks unless “the people of the crusader coalition…leave Muslim land.”[2] Last week’s open letter echoes this sentiment.”

It is worse than that. They elected, effectively, a Breck Girl liberal as PM. Sadly it appears that Britain will just become another weak, pandering socialist nation cowtowing to terrorists.

The worst of all worlds in the WOT.

The Brits are discovering they have a huge "fifth column" of terrorist sympathizers who are acting as the "political wing" of the terrorists, very much like the actual designated "political" wings of Hezbollah, et al. All these "peaceful" groups of Islamists are calling for the UK to alter its policies in just the ways the terrorists desire, in response to terrorism. These are the political agents and co-religionists of the terrorists.

Yep. This article is in response to this latest:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1860268/posts

Gordon Brown has banned ministers from using the word “Muslim” in connection with the terrorism crisis.

The Prime Minister has also instructed his team – including new Home Secretary Jacqui Smith – that the phrase “war on terror” is to be dropped.

The shake-up is part of a fresh attempt to improve community relations and avoid offending Muslims, adopting a more “consensual” tone than existed under Tony Blair.

However, the change provoked claims last night that ministers are indulging in yet more political correctness.

The sudden shift in tone emerged in comments by Mr Brown and Ms Smith in the wake of the failed attacks in London and Glasgow.

It’s a freakin’ threat from 38 muslim groups! There’s no other way to view it!

The simple truth is that if they simply told the Saudis that funding of the mosques in the UK was terminated, and that the Saudi-trained Mullahs at those Mosques were given 30 days to vacate and return to their point of origin...a huge amount of this whole issue would dissolve away. The Saudis are 90 percent of the problem and we could easily work through the remaining 10 percent and be cleared of problems within two years. But no one wants to stand up to the Saudis...wonder why?

Well this nauseating and dangerous pandering will be on his facial expression when a truck-bomb goes off outside his office courtesy of those ‘non-offended Muslim genocidal fanatics’.

You are exactly right. Very well said.

This insidious two pronged approach is attempting to undermine the sovereignty of the United Kingdom.

The European Liberals will always be careful not to “offend”
Muslims. They will always be “sensitive” to their grievances.
::::
And they will keep dying at the hands of these Islamic killers. Very impressive leadership. I have no doubt there are MANY Brits who wish they had Maggie Thatcher back, or even Blair....at least then they had a chance.

Don't forget that Churchill succeeded Chamberlain. The Brits leave it a bit late to get their leader in place, though....

Remember, too, Kipling:

Build on the flanks of Etna where the sullen smoke-puffs float
Or bathe in tropic waters where the lean fin dogs the boat>br> Cock the gun that is not loaded, cook the frozen dynamite
But oh, beware my Country, when my Country grows polite!

Yes, but in this case Chamberlain has succeeded..... well, not exactly Churchill, but at least Tony Blair had a lot more backbone than THIS:

BROWN: DON’T SAY TERRORISTS ARE MUSLIMS

Tuesday July 3,2007
By Macer Hall, Political Editor

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/12172/Brown:-Don

Mr Brown’s spokesman acknowledged yesterday that ministers had been given specific guidelines to avoid inflammatory language.

There is clearly a need to strike a consensual tone in relation to all communities across the UK

Mr Brown’s spokesman

“There is clearly a need to strike a consensual tone in relation to all communities across the UK,” the spokesman said. “It is important that the country remains united.”

He confirmed that the phrase “war on terror” – strongly associated with Mr Blair and US President George Bush – has been dropped.

Officials insist that no direct links with Muslim extremists have been publicly confirmed by police investigating the latest attempted terror attacks. Mr Brown himself did not refer to Muslims or Islam once in a BBC TV interview on Sunday.
Ms Smith also avoided any such reference in her statement to MPs yesterday.

She said: “Let us be clear – terrorists are criminals, whose victims come from all walks of life, communities and religions. Terrorists attack the values shared by all law-abiding citizens. As a Government, as communities, as individuals, we need to ensure that the message of the terrorists is rejected.”

Tory backbencher Philip Davies said: “I don’t know what purpose is served by this. I don’t think we need pussyfoot around when talking about terrorism.”

But former Tory homeland security spokesman Patrick Mercer said: “This is quite a smart idea. We know that the vast majority of Muslims are not involved in terrorism and we have to accept there are sensitivities about these matters.”
