FReepers Weldgophardline and Fire engine red entered a float dedicated to our brave troops serving in the armed services. Fire engine red worked tirelessly for two months to prepare a float that was a proud tribute to our troops for the annual parade in Greeley, Colorado.
Besides displaying pictures of current service personnel, there is also a special heart on each side of the float with pictures honoring our brave troops who lost their lives fighting for our Country.
Pictures will be posted shortly, and FReepers Weldgophardline and Fire engine red will add their report later.

Many spectators enjoyed inspecting the float before the parade began.
FReepers Fire engine red and Jan in Colorado will be riding in the float and FReeper weldgophardline will be walking.

The crowd loved our float. People were lined up on both sides of the street for blocks!
A gentleman with two young children came up to us and said ours was the best float in the parade! Of course, we already knew that since it's a SUPPORT THE TROOPS float.

Wow, you two are quick!
It was awesome how the crowd reacted when our float passed by! Many stood up and applauded for our troops, and some removed their hats and put their hands over their hearts as well.

I first read that as ‘Support the Troops. Float a hit in Greeley, Colorado!” and I thought, “Okay. Get me a ticket to Greeley and tell me who you want bumped off.”

We had a local radio station help by promoting the need for photos of our local service members and it paid off big time. we had over 65 photos come in and many of the parents and wife's could not believe someone would do this for them and their loved ones.
The most touching photo was from the sister and mother of SFC. Scott Brown that had died on may 18 of this year and asked if we would include him on the float.
We had a Fallen heart in the would and was glad to include it.

FALLEN BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
The most touching part of the float for me was the heart right in the center that displayed three fallen heroes...

How terrific. Wish I could have been there to see this. It reminds me of the Fourth when I was a child and everybody was patriotic and celebrated by having parades and saluting the flag and remembering how precious this country and freedom really is.

Y’all have brought some tears to the eyes of this old squid. Second time it’s happened today.
Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to make this float one that will be talked about around Greeley for many months to come.
Above, I mentioned the “Second time.”
We, too had a parade in Modesto, CA this morning. Consider there are no military bases nearby so we do not have a large presence of military personnel, but there are a lot of Vets.
Leading off our parade were members of the Modesto PD motorcycle drill team. They were followed by the Color Guard - VFW personnel. As the Colors passed by, I naturally stood, uncovered, and placed my USS PIEDMONT (AD-17) baseball cap over my heart. Did this each time a unit passed by with our nations flag.
Then a few units passed that caused me to rise and render a salute - Vietnam Veteran’s Assoc members, GI Forum and lastly, The Blue Star Mom’s group float. Walking in front were 6 members of our Armed Forces in uniform.
My salute to this last group was interrupted by three of those soldiers who came over to me to shake my hand. Imagine that, these heroes in uniform, thanking me for honoring them.
Ooops, here comes another waterfall. I’m running out of Kleenex.
Again, thank you all for your contribution to our Armed Forces, and may God Bless each and every one of you.
To: Diver Dave
It must be contagious...now my eyes are filled with tears. I wish I could shake your hand as well. I’ll settle for saying, THANK YOU!
