I have freewill which has been granted to me by God. It makes no difference to me personally whether God knows what choice I am going to make. It is still mine to decide.

Sometimes there are mysteries that the finite human mind cannot perceive even though our egotistical nature demands an answer. Faith precedes understanding.

Just because God, being sovereign, omnipotent, and omniscient, knows what each of us is going to do and knows how it is all going to turn out, does not mean that we don't have the freedom to choose our actions and make our own decisions.

It's almost impossible for us to comprehend, because of our finite minds and severely limited knowledge about things, but the fact is God gave each of us the freedom to choose to accept Him or reject Him, and gives us the freedom to, apart from Him, choose our own course in life. And we also have the freedom to live with and sometimes suffer the consequences of some of the choices we make as a result of the free will given to us by God.

Yes. I could have just walked up to go to lunch right now but I didn't. There was a definite decision process there.

My question: Why are you hung up on whether God knows what you are going to decide at every turn?

Your comment is illogical. The “knowledge” of something is not the same as the “manipulation” of something. Just because God knows how we have chosen does not at all mean he has made the decision for us.

We can make as many choices as we want. We have no control over the outcome, however. I can choose to go on vacation to Tahiti, I can choose to eat a peanut butter sandwich, I can choose to get gas on the way home. Wether or not those plans of mine come to fruition is beyond my control.

I do find it very interesting that a complete prohibition on buying or selling without a mark [the mark could mean an electronic mark or record], presumably implying a total control on even very basic economic trading or commerce, was not even remotely possible in the first century.

I think this is called reading far more into the text than is there.
