Terror Remains the No. 1. Issue
realclearpolitics.com ^ | July 05, 2007 | Daniel Henninger

For the professional politician, carving and chiseling a path to the White House, the task at hand is figuring out what ails the collective mind of the American electorate, this week and when the 300th week of the campaign lumbers into view next year. Yesterday found candidates Biden, Dodd, Clinton, Obama, Brownback and Romney floating like tireless balloons through Fourth of July parades all over Iowa. After that, our 20 or so presidential diviners and their retinues will continue to belly-flop into towns across America, trying to connect, trying to discover the one thing that will still animate voters when the final bell rings Nov. 4, 2008.

How about this issue: cars filled with nails and tanks of propane gas, blown up by people whose goal in life is to murder Western infidels.

But I could be wrong. Two weeks ago, Mike Bloomberg's turn in the center of the political conversation came when he divested the GOP and declared to a group of Google employees out West, "Whoever out of those 20 becomes president I think has to do something about a country that I think is really in trouble." The trouble, as the mayor sees it, has to do with the country's "reputation" and its "go-it-alone mentality."

Maybe Mike Bloomberg has it right. Maybe the winning presidential issue will be getting into a better relationship.

This is an unusual election to handicap. Setting aside the trick of a candidate avoiding statements now that would look irretrievably dumb 15 months from...

--snip--

This may well be the election decided by the Worry Wart Independents. But don't be surprised if a lot of them walk out of the voting booth that day and say with a straight face, "I voted to solve the health-care crisis." Right. They also voted for Dinkins.

The #1 issue is the war of the left and the jihadis against normal people Whether there will be a United States as we know it, or if it will be a country with no freedom, and where the founding principles are scorned?

That can’t be! “The war on terror is a bumpersticker issue!”

I know that because that’s what this lawyer told me! And he had really good hair!

Terrorism is the No. 2 issue. The greatest danger to America is the massive illegal alien invasion that has been taking place. Some people have been ignoring it.

The government in Washington has been encouraging it. But it remains the No. 1 threat to Americans.

The present government has proved unable to defend the U.S. against this invasion. One top official, Secretary Chertoff of Homeland Security said that the U. S. was unable to enforce the laws. He did not promptly resign.

BTW Our elite rulers claimed for a long time that there were “only” about 11 million illegal aliens (criminals) in the U. S. Then, when it became obvious, they moved the estimate up to 12 million. Then it was admitted that there were between 12 an 20 million illegal aliens.

A more accurate estimate, using INS figures shows that the number of illegal aliens now in the U.S. seizing territory and resources, is around 34 million. Go figure.

The best form of health care is one that insures that you will be alive in order to make your deductible.

Amazing that Henninger & his WSJ bros can be so wrong about the illegal alien disaster being a free market phenomenon and then write a piece like this that is so right...when both are mortal dangers to free people and any freedom left in America's economy. Without the middle class there is no freedom, just class warfare and autocratic rule!

It's called leadership and Western Democracies will follow the USA or risk absorbtion into the hell house of Islam. Germany and France elected new governments more cooperative with the US fight against terror.

Terrorism is the No. 2 issue.

Terror is my #1 issue.
Border Security is my #2 issue, mainly to prevent terror infiltration.
Criminal (violence, gangs, drugs) Illegal or Legal aliens is my #3 issue.

Supreme court is my #1 issue
if we’re serious about terrorism, why not have our soldiers close the border and why don’t we deport/refuse admittance to high risk aliens from certain countries and religions. A more balanced foreign policy might make USA less of a lightning rod as well.
