No wonder these guys support Rudy Giuliani. He really IS their kind of candidate.
I guess we can't count on Rudy single-handedly cleaning-up all of national government, as his supporters have been trying to tell us. He can't even keep his own house clean - personal or campaign house, that is.
Had enough yet? Stop Rudy NOW!
This has nothing to do with Rudy. Please.
Buy Bye
If Rudy’s past malfeasance and liberalism aren’t enough to shake his fan club, a few rotten supporters aren’t going to dampen their enthusiasm
David Vitter appears to be a solid conservative in the Senate. Regardless of his mistakes in his personal life, we would be much better served if we did not throw him under the bus because of this.
No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. The important thing is that when we do screw up, we try to fix it, and not repeat the mistake, and hope for forgiveness from those that we hurt in the process.
Good grief. I wouldn’t vote for Rudy in a primary because I don’t support his social positions. But I fail to see your logic here. And I like Vitter. Most people do have things in their past they don’t want disclosed. Vitter’s past, the SC campaign manager’s arrest... these have nothing to do with Guiliani.
This is about a pattern of people supporting Rudy.
Vitter did not “come clean” with us, anymore than Jesse Jackson did. We only heard about this when he got busted.
Vitter has put his reputation on the line in his support of a Liberal for President. All this does is point out that perhaps that was a bit more of a gamble than we thought - betting on Vitter’s reputation.
Now the question is: do we INSTANTLY forgive and forget with Vitter?
I’m willing to forgive, but his endorsement of Rudy - added with this new revelation of frequenting prostitutes and covering it up from everyone even after “quitting” - is hardly winning my blind support of “Conservative hero,” Mr. Vitter.
With me, he’s kind of on probation.
But we do see a pattern emerging here, like it or not.
It is always disappointing to hear of serious moral failure in the life of a leader ... but since Mr. Vitter is not applying to be pastor of my church, I think the above should suffice.
David Vitter is a national hero for his work in stopping the Kennedy amnesty bill.
Again, it seems that Vitter's personal issues have not impacted his voting record in the US Senate. He might support Rudy, but that doesn't make Vitter himself any less of a conservative. Putting Vitter "on probation" because of his support of Rudy is a bad idea... if enough like minded people withhold their support of Vitter because of this, he will inevitably be replaced, most likely by a liberal Democrat who won't agree with us on anything. Do we really want that?
As wrong as Mr. Vitter's actions in his personal life were, if I was one of his constituents, I would still gladly and heartily support him.
Vitter supports Rudy who is a social liberal who has had association with someone with drug issues.
Well, let’s also go with:
Vitter also supported GWB who had problems in the past.
Using a common but flimsy link here, Rudy and GWB are connected in some way.
I know, PacMan Jones acts like a gang banging thug. He plays for the Titans. TitansAFC roots for the team that employs PacMan Jones. Ergo, Titans AFC supports thug life, people having 4 kids with three women, calling females bitches and hoes, etc.
Rudy falls on his own merits. No need to have to reach for the stars....
Vitter was a “hero” here a couple of weeks ago in re: shamnesty. I don’t know as I’d be so quick to condemn.
If not for Vitter, and the people like him, we would be on the verge of another Civil war or Anarchy. We all make mistakes, none of us are perfect.
No one is saying that cheating on one's spouse is not a serious character flaw. It is, but we must also understand that every now and then, even the best of people can give into temptation and do things they wouldn't otherwise do. Everyone is susceptible to this, it is part of our human nature.
Of course, this does not excuse such actions. If anything, we should pray that he and his family can get through this difficult time.
You should look at this another way. It isn't like he got drunk and killed somebody.
You really, really, really don't want to imply that only politicians supporting Rudy ever committeed adultery...do you?
I didn't think so.
Prude!
He cast his damn vote correctly, so what the hell more do you want? Perfection?!?! Cam’t you see that asking a married man not to frequent prostitutes is practically Puritan of you?!?!?!
How DARE you have a moral standard for office-bearers!?!?! Do you want the Democrats to win, or are you rooting for the terrorists?!?!
And Rudy being surrounded by gay Republicans, NARAL-types, cocaine users, crooked cops, and frequenters of prostitutes - all of these people holding KEY positions in his campaigns and administrations - proves nothing. After all, if I use six degrees of separation with you, I can connect you to Osama Bin Laden.
Instantly forgive, because they vote Conservative. That way, we can be just like the Democrats. The measure of a person is no longer based on their character as a whole - it is based on how they vote on key political issues. We can overlook the other stuff, because he’s our guy!
