President Bush, at podium, speaks to members of the media prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony ...

At this morning's ribbon-cutting for the newly renovated White House Briefing Room, President Bush dropped in just long enough to rub reporters' noses in his cheerful refusal to take them seriously.

... the president was in full frat-boy mode, clowning around during introductory remarks by C-SPAN's Steve Scully. ... Bush apparently felt Scully went on too long. "I like a good, short introduction," Bush jeered as soon as Scully gave up the podium.

Here's the transcript. "We missed you -- sort of," Bush said. ...

When reporters finally tried to ask questions, Bush waved them off.

"Maybe some other time," he said.

Then he came up with a little game: "Let me cut the ribbon -- are you going to cut it with me, Steve -- and then why don't you all yell simultaneously? (Laughter.) Like, really loudly. (Laughter.) And that way you might get noticed.

"Q It doesn't sound like you're going to answer --

"THE PRESIDENT: . . . I'll, like, listen --

"Q And leave?

"THE PRESIDENT: -- internalize, play like I'm going to answer the question, and then smile at you and just say, gosh -- (laughter) -- thanks, thanks for such a solid, sound question.

"Here we go, ready? I'm going to cut the ribbon. (Laughter.) Then you yell. I cogitate -- and then smile and wave. (Laughter.)"

As the end of this video shows, he then did exactly as advertised.

"Brilliant question," he said, cocking his head, then adding: "Thank you all. See you soon." ...

Are you sure he wasn’t addressing his conservative base instead of the press?

The MSM hates President Bush - why would he pretend their his friends? I’m amazed he would show up at all...

The present ratings of the White House and the Congress say it all about Washington. QED.

Just some of them perhaps. I liked what he said.

As I say, sometimes you don't like the decisions I make, and sometimes I don't like the way you write about the decisions. But nevertheless, it's a really important part of our process. And the fact that you were working in substandard conditions just wasn't right. It really wasn't.

This paragraph isn't "frat boy". They want him to come in, cry, and say he's leaving the White House for good.

I really hate the MSM.

I guess the Washington Post had some space to fill whether they had a story or not. LOL! Pretty pitiful.

He sometimes has his classy moments. I just love when he plays the press. He should do so with the media and the dems all the time.

You can be sure he was not addressing his curent conservative base: there were too many people there.

The ratings for the Washington press corps aren’t that stellar, either.

The White House Press Corps: The biggest bunch of navel-staring meatheads in Washington.

They hate their jobs; they hate their bosses; they hate their colleagues; they hate their pay; and their dislike for America is staggeringly large.

Another great example of why I trust Bush more than I trust the so called “conservative base.”

The CB is willing to play along with the press on certain strategic concerns but Bush knows the whole thing is sham.

Bush is largely unmodified by populist pretenders.

The press always knows in advance whether or not the President is going to take questions.

Sounds like someone at the WaPo got a little sand in his vagina because the President stuck to his schedule and the published agenda and denied them the oportunity to grandstand by mocking or misquoting the the Presdient.
