This is an excellent report - thanks for posting. Saying prayers for those Marines. The fact that murtha is in office says a lot about the people in his district.
I’m a veteran and it makes me proud to know folks like you. It desn’t matter wheher one served in the Military, what matters is yu care about your country and you know right from wrong. That’s what we all fought for, and that is what makes our country the best there is. Murtha is a P.O.S. and needs his mouth washed out with strong bleach, and possibly water-boarded! He’s a demented cretin.
Can't dispute that.
Except of course to say it says a whole lot more about the people that voted for his opponent in the last election.
Has Murtha ever met with veterans who don't care for his politics, or does he only meet with the Sheehan crowd?
bttt
LLS wants him strung up!

“Screw censuring Murtha... have him prosecuted for treason. If seeking to withdraw our troops from combat before weve won the war and referring to them as war criminals isnt providing aid and comfort to the enemy, I dont know what is.”

Thanks for posting this, smoothsailing.
“murtha is an a-hole...and should be called one on the floor of the house!!!!”

Done! Thankfully!
They would have to apologise to themselves, then.
His parents don't have to go to Murtha's home district. They already live in it. That's part of the shame of Murtha that goes unreported. They are his constituents. He and his office in the district will not return their phone calls.
And I agree with you, in the last election Murtha got roughly 60% of the vote. His opponent got roughly 40%. Out of a total of about 210,000 votes cast. So roughly speaking 120,000 voters in that district need their attitudes adjusted. But 90,000 voters in that district deserve a marching band and a big parade.
Yes Murtha is a disgrace. I think it was Time Magazine that printed the original story by poking around the city and asking what well could have been an AQ sympathizer or dissident about the incident. Then they had about three or more retractions to the story! Yet, Murtha seems to enjoy smearing the Marine Corps while at the same time playing up his hero role while serving as an S-2 officer in RVN. I personally feel Murtha has a vendetta against those who questioned his purple hearts and BSV award dates, so; he takes it out on others anytime he hears of any derogatory allegation. The sad thing is that these Marines are in debt to the tune of about $250K each in legal expenses to defend themselves for actions that were approved by a Marine officer according to what I have read.
No, I never had to fight in any city or any built up area where civilians could be exposed to outgoing or incoming fire. Anyone with an ounce of sense knows that there will be some civilian casualties in urban warfare. Some in Congress have decided that they are more qualified to lead our military in every aspect of war then the commanders and NCO’s of the military are.
A dem censured for making false statements? Good luck.
I always figured her to be a first class b!t#h.

Yes Sir it is!!! Its time Murtha faced some consequences for his actions..
I'm not a constitutional expert (but I did stay in a Holiday Inn a while back), but I think a request for a vote for censure can be brought to the floor in a deliberative body by any member at any time during normal business once the member rises and is recognised by the presiding officer or "chair" in the case of the U.S.House of Representatives.
Censure itself has no standing or reference in the U.S. Constitution so far as I know, so it would be a procedural and symbolic affair, allowed by standing rules of the House, and only meaningful if agreed to by a majority of those voting on a censure motion.
It would in essence be the equivalent of a public reprimand. There is no penalty to the member who is censured, other than public embarassment.
It's a little more serious than a slap on the wrist, I suppose.
