mericans See Liberal Media Bias on TV News Friday, July 13, 2007 Advertisment

By a 39% to 20% margin, American adults believe that the three major broadcast networks deliver news with a bias in favor of liberals. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 25% believe that ABC, CBS, and NBC deliver the news without any bias.

Similar results are found for CNN and National Public Radio (NPR). By a margin of 33% to 16%, Americans say that CNN has a liberal bias. The nation’s adults say the same about NPR by a 27% to 14% margin.

There is one major exception to the belief that media outlets have a liberal bias—Fox News. Thirty-one percent (31%) of Americans say it has a bias that favors conservatives while 15% say it has a liberal bias.

When it comes to delivering news without bias, 37% believe NPR accomplishes that goal. Thirty-six percent (36%) say the same for Fox and 32% believe it’s true of CNN. As noted earlier, just 25% believe the major broadcast networks deliver news in an unbiased manner. Results for other media outlets will be released over the next week.

Media fairness has emerged as a debate on Capitol Hill following the recent debate on immigration when public opinion overwhelmed the will of the Senate. Some lawmakers have called for a re-introduction of the “Fairness Doctrine” requiring stations to air competing points of view. Rasmussen Reports will release data on public attitudes towards that concept over the weekend.

Do polls fall under the no call list restrictions too?

Absolutely. Huge loophole purposely put into the bill. All the annoying calls I get are push polls where the questions are like "If you could get all the carpets in your house clean for just $39.95 would you do it?" followed by "Of the three carpet cleaning companies that serve your area, 'A. Never Heard of It', 'B. Never Heard of This One Either', or 'C. Clean Carpets For Just $39.95' would you use?", and then "Do you prefer to use a toll-free number for your carpet cleaning company?", and then "Which of the toll-free numbers for carpet clening companies would you use most? 'A. 800-738-9243', 'B. 800-783-9423', or 'C. 800-CARPETS'?".

Not that I get that far anymore. If it isn't a friend calling I politely say "I'm not interested" and hang up without waiting for the part of the script where they handle the first objection.

And these same uneducated people believe that man, and not the Sun, is the cause of global warming. That explains it all.

Ladies and Gemmins of america surveys like this expose , the seamy underbelly of the INFORMATION CRISIS which stalks the citizens of our republic each and every day.....(and who wants to see a seamy underbelly? NO ONE!)

what to do?

lord knows, if we could just re institute the tool given to us by the whiney liberals of yore aka the Fairyness Doctrine, we could easily turn around the horrific numbers expurgated in this study...

it is of the utmost importance that we all work together toward a day .. when this wrong is finally righted...a day when each and every one of us sees and appreciates the balance self evident in current mainstream media reportage .....

toward that end i have taken the liberty to submit this brief but crucial plan to save our liberty.

JOB 1 reinstate walter krankcase to his former perch of glory in the conning tower high atop the good ship see b s

JOB 2 bring DAN the ‘tall tower full power’ truth tellen man back; to work a desk alongside the krankster.

JOB 3 Immediately shut down the mikes of all right wing hatesters who are this very day, poisening our national airways . yes i mean clean ‘em all out from top to bottom...thats right every one of them...from
rush thru sean and beyond .....these eople have no right to breate their dangerous unfit spew....into the ears of our american utes.

let us then resolve to all work together to save the first amendment and provide a bright future to the nation and its progeny.

thank u for your time.

Americans See Liberal Media Bias on TV News

I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you. In unrelated news, a new weather forecasting system has been discovered. (They should add...stone on fire, Global Warming). I'm going to add that myself. I just gave me a good idea. Thanks me.

“I listen to Rush every weeknight here (they only play him for an hour, not the full 3), and for almost every ‘break’ that Rush takes, they play NPR news “

They probably do that to demonstrate balance. Rush is openly on the right, and though NPR denies any leftward slant, anyone with a grain of sense knows where they’re coming from. So the AFN can say “hey, look, balanced programming”.
