Geraldo Rivera’s breathless tease ("ignorant ranting about immigration and the Zina Linnik case")

Geraldo Rivera’s breathless tease

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 16, 2007 08:09 AM
geraldo1.jpg

If you want ignorant ranting about immigration and the Zina Linnik case, go watch Geraldo Rivera (thanks to readers for e-mailing me about it over the weekend and AP for clipping the vid). Utterly shameless. Geraldo teased his Saturday night segment on the case by claiming that Zina’s uncle, Anatoly Kalchik, would argue that Zina’s accused murderer should be called a “monster” instead of an “immigrant:”

GERALDO: The tragic story was twisted to aggravate the immigration debate… A little girl snatched and brutally murdered. Tonight her family speaks out on why his “immigrant” label should be replaced by “monster.”

The only thing twisted, though, was Geraldo’s big tease. Mr. Kalchick did not say what Geraldo said he would say. Geraldo didn’t even ask him about the immigration angle in the interview that aired.

Why not?

Perhaps because Mr. Kalchick would have told Geraldo what he told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (noted in my post yesterday):

…Zina’s uncle was angry that the suspect had not been deported after being convicted in a sex crime.

“We are all immigrants, but we come legally,” Kalchik said of his family. He added that the adults all cleared a criminal background check.

“If someone is a sex offender, or any kind of offender, he has no business being in America,” he said.

After failing to deliver on his breathless tease, Geraldo instead directed his vitriol at…me:

GERALDO: At this point, I have to point out how in my view, this awful case was distorted by anti-immigrant radicals like Michelle Malkin to make a cheap point. Michelle said that this tragedy was the result of our open borders policy, that allows creeps like this guy to sneak in. In fact, it has nothing to do with our borders, open or otherwise. This alleged perpetrator, as far as I know, is a US Army veteran, the stepson of another Army veteran, and he’s not being–he’s being held by INS, but that’s only pending other charges filed against him–charges like failing to register as a sex offender. You know, I wonder how long we’re going to have to wait for an apology on this one.

How about an apology for exploiting and misrepresenting Zina’s uncle? How about an apology for putting words in his mouth and the mouths of the Linnik family? How about an apology for erroneously claiming that Terapon Adhahn was a naturalized American citizen? How about an apology for misleading Fox News viewers about Adhahn’s immigration detention and withholding vital information about the systemic, long-standing failures of the government at all levels to deport criminal aliens?

This case and its ramifications have everything to do with open borders. Clue: “Open borders” is a metaphor for the willful, malign neglect of the entire immigration and entrance system–not just at the physical borders, but on the interior, at our consular offices abroad, on the immigration services side, throughout the investigations and enforcement bureaucracies, and in the detention and deportation offices.

But with clueless Geraldo, the immigration debate is always and only about one border–the southern border. It’s only about one kind of immigrant: Hispanic illegal aliens. And it’s all about one cheap set of talking points: All illegal aliens are hard-working angels, all ICE agents are jack-booted thugs, and everyone who believes in enforcing immigration laws is an “anti-immigrant radical.”

Remember: Geraldo’s so over the cliff, his answer to whether any criminal aliens should ever be deported was a blubbering digression about John Lennon.

Geraldo is worse than worthless. So I won’t waste another word. There’s too much work to do.

As they say on TV: Stay tuned.

Apparently he is also an attorney, as they often point out on Fox & Friends when they ask his legal opinion.

His breathless rantings during the immigration issue were pathetic...claiming that ICE was yanking babies from the arms of their mothers during the night as they huddled in the dark shadows...crying that he fears his sons will someday be discriminated against. Even the Friends were embarrassed for him.

The reason Rivera is on the air these days is because Roger Ailes put him there. Ailes has many accomplishments in his career dating back to his service to Reagan, his production of Rush Limbaughs tv show and his stewardship of FNC. But, all of these pluses combined do not balance out the negative points he gets for putting rivera on the air.

Well, if his sons are discriminated against, it will be because their father is a silly clown named Whorealdo, not because they're Hispanic!

Jerry Rivers is in the “No Fly” zone at my house. Whenever I view him on TV, there is an instant channel change.

I suspected as much, thanks.  He's a walking reminder of some of the reasons why people have such a negative opinion of 'journalists' and why the market share of TV 'news' and 'news'papers has been declining so dramatically over the past decade.  When people are given a choice, they will usually spend their time with intellectually-beneficial pursuits over those activities which only serve to inflame passions.  Hence the rise of talk radio and the blogosphere.

I think Fox News should apologize for hiring Jerry Rivers.

If you want to get a good idea about Geraldo's charater take a look at the people he is defending...

And if you want to gauge the depth of his 'legendary Hispanic manliness', look at what he does when his predictions blow up in his face and he's made to look a fool (once again) on international television.....he tries to beat up on a LADY:

"After failing to deliver on his breathless tease, Geraldo instead directed his vitriol at…me"

Michelle Malkin is a national treasure. The “artist formerly known as” Jerry Rivers is beneath contempt.

He drives me nuts! So dramatic and she always reminding us he’s a lawyer! Big Whoop! he’s really out there on the illegal immigration thing too. He should be on Entertainment tonight not the news!

He did work at MSNBC. But not any more. Don’t know why. That seems to be where he belongs - along with Olberman and Matthews.

Thank me very much.

Thank you very much.

I find myself watching Fox less and less. I make exceptions for when Michelle is on and occasionally Sean. FNC does not have a conservative backbone. They've become no better than most any other left wing liberal outlet with their mealy mouthed RINO big business globalist propaganda.

The only reason Whorealdo would interview scum like Larry Flint is to get some free passes to Flint’s dirty book stores so he could go in the back and spank the monkey.

For years I have been wondering: "The reason why this man [Rivera] has a job in broadcasting is what, exactly?"

That would be because the "businessmen" who operate broadcast television (including Fox) do not have enough imagination to look beyond the 100 or so inane empty shopping bags they regularly put on camera. There are 300,000,000 people in America. It would be possible to pick at random the replacements for those 100 and get more interesting, intelligent, informed "on-air personalities."

More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war, study says

When you start digging into the numbers the only ones that can be sourced with the feds are the number of American murdered in 2005: 16692
I have seen federal numbers for illegals held in jail ranging from 19.3% to 27% of the federal prison population.

Here's a sampling of USA cities wanted for murder. What you'll see is that in big USA cities like LA or NYC most of the murderers are Hispanic. Unknown are the % of illegals. In smaller cities the FBI will post the nationalities of the murderers. About 25% of the most wanted are illegals wanted for murder. This number agrees with the percentage of illegals incarcerated in federal prisons. +-25%

Pictures of top 10 most wanted in LA. Up until recent stories about crime in LA posted by the LA Times--the pictures included the nationality of the murderers. They were all foreign nationals and mostly Mexican.

Wanted for Murder in New York City.

Chicago wanted for Murder

Philadelphia wanted for murder

San Francisco wanted for Murder

New Orleans wanted for Murder

Pictures of suspects wanted for murder in Washington DC

FBI USA 10 most wanted. (two of 10 are Mexican nationals)

There are currently no exact numbers on the number of Americans killed by illegals. Part of the reason is that the government deliberately obscures the number. I talked on the phone with the head of statistics for the US Bureau of Prisons. He said his office wasn't allowed to publish the number of illegal alien murderers. Rather they were forced to put legal and non legal residents in the same category. I talked to ICE. They put out detailed numbers on illegal child molestors. However, they put out nothing on illegal murderers.

Part of the reason for the silence on the matter is that there is evidence to suggest that most Americans being killed by illegals are black--as is the suggestion in this LA Times Article.

All that said, it could be argued that if you include the number of illegals in state and local prisons the number of illegals in jail shrinks to 6% of the total prison population. Never the less if you multiply 16692 (the number of americans murdered in 2005) * .06 (illegal alien percent of total prison population) * 4 (the number of years the US has been in Iraq). The result is that more americans (4006) have been killed by illegals than have been killed in the Iraq war.

This point needs to be hammered home. Just as the liberals have hammered home the point about americans killed in Iraq.

To look at other USA cities go here http://stlouis.fbi.gov/ and replace stlouis with the city you want.
