TET was Westmoreland's Gettysburg in a sense (Gettysburg was the highwater mark of the Confederacy. TET was the highwater mark of American forces in Vietnam). Though unlike Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee who lost his great battle in 1863, yet retained command of his army Westmoreland won his battle and lost his command: He was instead "kicked upstairs" to the post of Army chief of staff..
.
Americans neither understood nor appreciated our actual battlefield successes in TET (to include how severely we mauled the enemy). All most Americans knew was that Americans by-and-large were sick of the war. So Westmoreland was kicked upstairs. And the Vietnam War though it would continue for a few more years was for all intent and purposes, lost.

After Linebacker II Giap admitted he was ready to quit. Imagine if we had called the Soviets on their bluff (?) in the early 60's, and leveled Hanoi and Haiphong mercilessly. What if Reagan had been President at that time? Would he have called the Soviets out? I guess we'll never now.
I meant, “I guess we’ll never know.”
No doubt due to this man: Walter Cronkite advocates an America that relinquishes its sovreignty to a world government
This guy is the God of liberals, especially those in the media. They think he walks on water. And they are trying to do the same thing to our troops today.
The U.S. won the Vietnam War on the ground but lost the propaganda war to the “useful idiots” in the media. The same thing is happening now in re Iraq.
that’s how the american left and the soviets dovetailed together.
but many american tv viewers were to dim witted to admit it.
Abandoning South Vietnam to slaughter and slavery was one of the darkpoints in our history. Funny thing is that the dems and the left want to relive it in Iraq.
Could that be because all they were fed were how we lost it and were losers?

I was born before the Korean War and lived through the disgrace of Vietnam. The first Gulf War seemed to erase the defeat legacy our military suffered in Vietnam, but once more, the Whores & Hounds of Hell are nipping at our heels lead by the Clintons, Pelosi, Ried, Obama, Edwards, Kerry, Ted Kennedy and the other lice ridden vermin that call themselves Democrats.

Deja vu all over again, eh?
It would have been enough to have elected Reagan's choice for President, Barry Goldwater. Goldwater advocated taking the fight to North Vietnam during the 1964 election campaign.
Lyndon Johnson and his comrades in the national press portrayed Goldwater as a madman who would get us into a major war. All while LBJ himself was privately planning on sending American combat troops to South Vietnam to do the heavy fighting.

The same WALTER CRONKITE who went to a Year 2000 World Conference in London, England to publically declare that it was time for our 11 Southern States to SECEDE from our Union.
The very same WALTER CRONKITE who works for Communist North Vietnam-supporting HILLARY RODHAM & WILLIAM CLINTON re-entry into our precious Oval Office...

...and always has been.

Part of the reason is because the fighting in Vietnam was hard for the public to follow. We were fighting a defensive action leaving the North as a sanctuary.
America wins wars on the offensive, conquering and overrunning enemy territory. We haven’t had as much success in defending against drawn out insurgencies. Neither Johnson nor Nixon were willing to invade the North and capture Hanoi.
BUMP DAT !!...

I’ve got a lapel pin that shows a GI in front of a map of Vietnam and says “We Were Winning When I Left”. True. US military never lost a battle; war was not lost but abandoned in Washington DC. Sad to see same thing happening to our troops today.
