Pork Chop Hill film shines in shadow of Ried's Senate pajama party
Pork Chop Hill film at imdb ^ | 7-18-07 | Bender2

I just finished watching Pork Chop Hill on Turner Classic Movies. For those who have never seen the film, it is a black & white account of the April 16-18, 1953, battle for a hill of apparently no strategic or tactical value during the very, last months of the Korean War. It is a very factual based account based on the book by the famed military historian of the period, S.L.A. Marshall.

Given the just finished pajama party Harry Reid hosted in the US Senate, this film stands a mute testimony on how far we have come in the past half century or so...

KEYWORDS:
Gregory Peck plays 1st Lt. Joseph G. Clemons, Jr., the real life commander of King Company, 31st Infantry, that took Pork Chop and held it under some of the most stressfully and bitter fighting of the conflict. Clemons’ King Company was slowly decimated until only he had only about 25 troops left standing. They were tired out and mightily beat up, but they were not beaten.

Considering the liberal left wings politics of Peck in later days, the performance he gives is riveting for the tenacity he gives Joe Clemons’ leadership in keeping the hill from being overrun. Against almost impossible odds and in the face of miscommunication and shaky end of the war politics, Clemons faces down his fears and frustration to lead his men to a last grasp victory.

This is about as far as you can go from the politics and creed of the liberal left of today. The liberal Democrats of today are more akin to the Chinese Communist announcer of the film who pleads for the Americans on Pork Chop to surrender and join the brotherhood of peace.

Pork Chop Hill is the last truly heroic portrayal of American fighting men in the first war they were not allowed to win. Where Hollywood once backed the attack and our troops, after Pork Chop Hill there were very, very, very few films that gave even passing support for America’s men and women in uniform.

Following Korea came Vietnam where liberal Democratic politics forced us to accept a defeat we never suffered on the battlefield. Now we have Iraq and a War on Terror where once again liberal Democrats are trying to force another defeat down the throat of America. They have the same cohorts with the Mainstream Media and elite East Cost newspapers and their allies now are not the Communists of North Vietnam and the Soviet Union, but instead the very Islamic terrorists that flatten the World Trade Center and beheaded our POWs.

The scream that “They support the troops!” while pulling the rug and funds out from under our armed services. This baldfaced lie comes from smiling lips that then follow with more traitorous offers to pull out again and leave another population to suffer mass killings at the hands of our enemies. Millions died in Indochina after we left and the possibility of millions more dead looms in Iraq if we follow the liberal Democrats’ call to cut and run.

Even the Secretary of the UN, Ban Ki-moon, agrees it would be a disaster and massacre for American Forces to leave right now. This bears repeating, even the UN says the liberals' position is wrong!

Dare anyone honestly believe Iraq will be a calm spot of Islamic brotherhood if we exit? If anyone does, they are fools, if not willing traitors.

I was born before the Korean War and lived through the disgrace of Vietnam. The first Gulf War seemed to erase the defeat legacy our military suffered in Vietnam, but once more, the Whores & Hounds of Hell are nipping at our heels lead by the Clintons, Pelosi, Ried, Obama, Edwards, Kerry, Ted Kennedy and the other lice ridden vermin that call themselves Democrats.

They are not Americans, they are traitors to the core and one day if we are not careful and vigilant, they will win out, killing the American Dream and the American Nation for all of us. Their victory will be hollow because they will shortly be overrun by the Islamic hoards they say are not our enemy. Their last breath will in all probability be the radioactive dust from the rubble of New York, Boston and the District of Columbia.

I should probably start praying this country doesn’t get nuked. All of my friends live in Brooklyn, and my grandparents and uncle live in Manhattan.

I watched this film within the last two months on TCM or the Military channel and could not help but think of the comparisons. The tactics of our enemies haven’t changed much and the reactions from the bureaucrats also have not changed much either.

if we are not careful and vigilant, they will win out, killing the American Dream and the American Nation for all of us. They are winning out and the American dream is dead. I don't even recognize this country from the one we had 40 or even 30 years ago. When you have to ask yourself daily if something is illegal or 'allowed' we HAVE lost. The conservatives win battles now and then , but liberal vermin push little bills through that work right up to their original plans while we sit with baited breath watching the news and hoping McCain-Feingold and similar bills don't pass. This country is seriously wounded and we go day to day hoping that 'they' don't take the last of our freedoms. Outlaw hate speech? You curtail the first amendment right?

My husband watched that tonight. I watched a little with him. We have entered a very dangerous time indeed. Few of our children and grandchildren understand why America is the greatest nation on earth.

The Battle of the Bulge was on the History Channel at the same time Pork Chop Hill aired. Must have been a VRWC against the pajama party.

Dixie Division... BUMP

More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/31st_Infantry_Division_(United_States)

BTW after looking at your Dad’s photos...

Like this one of a Bell H-13 Sioux... if shown to most people nowadays...

they’d say, “Boy, that looks like the set of M*A*S*H...”

Gad, what a brood of clueless... history challenged idiots we have raised with help from the Liberal Democrats, ACLU, NAACP, etc!

Here is my Dad in 1940... when the Texas National Guard was federalized

In 1942 England...

And over Southern France in 1944... Operation Dragoon

God Bless both our Dads...

Re: ...All of my friends live in Brooklyn, and my grandparents and uncle live in Manhattan.

I'd get them to move if you can.

Pelosi, Ried and company are starting to paint a large bullseye back on Ground Zero...

I would not live in New York City nowadays if they gave me Katie's salary and threw in the entire budgets for the snooze departments of ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN!

On second thought... I'd take the money...

Then fly out of the Big Apple with all the Fox News Babes along for the ride!

And, of course... all your friends and family would be invited along for the party.
