Interesting with all of the other things happening in the region now.

I read a while back that Israel formed the Septaugint again. I wonder if that’s true.

Does anyone know?

You mean the Sanhedrin? I think that the Septaugint is the first 7 books of the Bible. (Gen, Ex, Lev, Num,Deu, Jos, and Jud)

Yes... Sorry. The Septuagint were the 70 Jewish scalars who translated the old testament each exactly the same.

Cool! I'll have to ask my son if he attended.

The Septuagint is the Greek translation of the Old Testament.

Did you mean to say The Sanhedrin?

Thank you, but it was Jewish Scholars. They were given the task of translating the Old Testament by King Ptolemy.

The term “Septuagint” means seventy in Latin, and the text is so named to the credit of these 70 scholars.

yes, there is a recently re-established Sanhedrin that was formed last year in Israel, i believe. it is in an embryonic stage and shouldn’t be thought to have the gravitas of the historical Sanhedrin.

I think that the Septaugint is the first 7 books of the Bible.

Septuagint (sometimes abbreviated LXX) is the name given to the Greek translation of the Jewish Scriptures. The Septuagint has its origin in Alexandria, Egypt and was translated between 300-200 BC. Widely used among Hellenistic Jews, this Greek translation was produced because many Jews spread throughout the empire were beginning to lose their Hebrew language. The process of translating the Hebrew to Greek also gave many non-Jews a glimpse into Judaism. According to an ancient document called the Letter of Aristeas, it is believed that 70 to 72 Jewish scholars were commissioned during the reign of Ptolemy Philadelphus to carry out the task of translation. The term “Septuagint” means seventy in Latin, and the text is so named to the credit of these 70 scholars.

Thank you for the information. Isn’t it also said the Sanhedrin comes back into being before the Temple is rebuilt?

That would dovetail with this article.

The new ‘Sanhedrin’ is sort of a voluntary effort and not officially recognized; the problem being, that after the members are named, the automatic response is, “Why is HE on it, and not ____?”
So while there ‘is’ a Sanhedrin, it really depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is....

(AFAIK, there’s no prophecy anywhere in either Testament about the Sanhedrin—though I could be wrong.)

Levites have come to the Temple annually for years to offer the priestly blessing to Israel. So I don’t know if this current meeting is actually something new, or simply a larger version of what has been done before.

The Septuagint is a translation of the Jewish Scriptures, made several hundred years before Christ.

What you may be referring to is the "Sanhedrin".

An article referring to this is -- "Sanhedrin Launched In Tiberias"

This must toast the Islamist’s cookies. As far as they are concerned, there IS no Jewish temple there - it’s all a Zionist lie.

i think this group that reconstituted the Sanhedrin believes that the Temple should be rebuilt in our day and that a Sanhedrin would be necessary to authenticate the coming of the Messiah - i don’t know if they are part of this, but there is a group called the Temple Institute which has a wonderful museum/exhibit in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem. they have recreated the utensils and vestments from 2nd Temple to be ready for the rebuilding of the Temple in the present day. a fascinating place to visit and see those things we read about in Hebrew Scripture and now can visualize what it all looks like.

What’s interesting is that the Dead Sea Scolls were much closer to the Septaugint than to the BHS (oldest Hebrew manuscript existing today.)
