“Bush called Sutton a friend.”

Yes, Presidente Jorge Boosh has a lot of “friends”.

Don’t get me started!

President Bush sharply challenged critics of his stalled immigration-overhaul efforts on Thursday

Well that's fine. Guy's entitled to his own opinion.

But that doesn't mean we have to vote for him, or any one else who thinks like that.

In fact, he's gone to great lengths to conceal his real opinions. In the '04 campaign, immigration was barely mentioned...and all the Republicans stood by, thinking that he really wasn't all that pink on the issue, that it was just an election ploy.

Wrong. Right after the election, the first thing he talked about was "boy oh boy ahm gonna git me some amnesty" -- which was a puzzle to everyone, because that was exactly what he did not talk about. BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE COLLAPSED HIS BASE IF THEY KNEW HIS REAL INTENTIONS.

So Mr. Jorge is entitled to his opinion. But....he lied and concealed it in the past, and there isn't any reason why we should go along with it.

Jorge W. refuses to listen to the American people. We don't want amnesty and certainly NOT to benefit his Chamber Of Commerce buddies. He should have learned something from the last few months. Apparently not and I'm very disappointed.

“NASHVILLE, Tenn. - President Bush sharply challenged critics of his stalled immigration-overhaul efforts on Thursday, suggesting that failure to pass a guest-worker program could trigger a labor shortage in the United States. “

We already have a guest worker program. There are 12 million illegals in it. Now get them all registered, give them a year to finish up and if they want any shot at becoming a citizen, they take their entire family, go home then reapply for citizenship.

No magic here. Of course, build the fence first.

This man has LOST all credibility as a Republican, as a conservative, as an American and as a man.

I can’t even stand to watch his appearance on TV anymore or listen to his lame excuses for his failed border policies, tag-teaming up with John McCain and Ted Kennedy on amnesty, sucking up to the Mexicans, or making incredible comments about his good friend Sutton.

Any border guard who is defending me against illegal invaders and potential drug dealers and terrorist invaders is worth more than all the Bushes put together.

I’m sick of him. Singlehandedly he destroyed the Republican majority in Congress and is destroying the Republican Party with his obstinacy and obtuseness. Just as his father threw away the legacy of Ronald Reagan, this man threw away the legacy of Newt Gingrich and the hopes of the millions of Americans who put him in office - TWICE - myself included.

NO MORE BUSHES - EVER!!!!!

"How ironic that the White House would use a bakery as a backdrop, because when it comes to spending the people's dough — taxpayer money — this president baked this cake," Conrad said. He argued that since Bush took office, government spending has increased nearly 50 percent.

This argument might have merit if Democrats had pushed for spending restraint. But they supported Bush in spending. Democrats have been big spenders for decades. Nor have they made any move to reduce non-defense spending now that they are in the majority. Conrad’s words are empty rhetoric that insults the intelligence of the American people.

Gee George, we already have guestworker programs. What you really want is open borders and cheap/slave labor for all your business buddies. Not to mention undermining America with a massive third world onslaught. You & Teddy K!

Guestworker Programs

Hiring Foreign Workers

Foreign Labor Certification Overview

The Department of Labor issues labor certifications for permanent and temporary employment under the following programs:

Permanent Labor Certification
H-1C Nurses in Disadvantaged Areas
H-2A Temporary Labor Certification (Seasonal Agricultural)
H-2B Temporary Labor Certification (Non-agricultural)
D-1 Crewmembers Certification
Foreign labor certification programs permit U.S. employers to hire foreign workers on a temporary or permanent basis to fill jobs essential to the U.S. economy. Certification may be obtained in cases where it can be demonstrated that there are insufficient qualified U.S. workers available and willing to perform the work at wages that meet or exceed the prevailing wage paid for that occupation in the area of intended employment.

Foreign labor certification programs are designed to assure that the admission of foreign workers into the United States on a permanent or temporary basis will not adversely affect the job opportunities, wages, and working conditions of U.S. workers.

Employment based immigration is a complex process that may involve a number of government agencies within the Federal Department of Labor, the State Department of Labor, the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) and the Department of State. The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) (8 U.S.C. 1101 et seq.) regulates the admission of foreign workers into the United States. The INA designates the Attorney General and the Secretary of State as the principal administrators of its provisions.

About the Foreign Labor Certification Process

Program Regulations & FAQs

FAQs

Compensation of Foreign Workers
Regulations require that the wages attested to on foreign labor certification applications must be the average wage paid to all other workers in the requested occupation in the area of intended employment. This average wage is referred to as the prevailing wage. See Prevailing Wages for more information.

The employer is not precluded from paying nonimmigrant(s) more than the prevailing wage.

Employer Compliance
The employer should be aware that in filing for a foreign labor certification, the employer is obligated to comply with all employment related laws and regulations. In the case of H-1B Specialty (Professional) Workers and “H-2A”: http://workforcesecurity.doleta.gov/foreign/h-2a.asp Temporary Seasonal Agricultural workers, additional obligations also apply. The details on these obligations may be found in the sections detailing H-1B and H-2A. Failure to comply with the established laws and regulations may potentially result in penalties and possible legal action.

The Wage and Hour Division of the Employment Standards Administration (ESA) at the Department of Labor is responsible for investigating and determining an employer’s misrepresentation in or failure to comply with the H-1B and H-2A program requirements and with employment laws, principally the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Non-DOL Employment Visas
For information regarding other employment based visas which do not require Department of Labor certification, see the U.S. Department of State’s website or the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service’s website.

"I know it's an emotional issue but people need to look at the facts. These men were convicted by a jury of their peers after listening to the facts" as presented by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, said Bush.

Kind of like libby. Get off the immigration crap Mr. President and get with explaining, defending and promoting your iraq strategy. It's more important to the country you unite the people on that.

Without such a program, and with stricter enforcement of the border, said Bush, "I can make you a prediction ... that pretty shortly people are going to be knocking on people's doors saying `Man we're running out of workers."'

People are going to be knocking on people's doors

Bush has become a mouthpiece for those that have become addicted to low wage illegal labor. Just more threats.

What's a lot of this boils down to?

Greedy employers and corporate toadies that have become use to low wage illegal labor, without any need to provide medical benefits, decent wages, etc. Just let our hospitals take care of them on the backs of the tax payers.

When you strip everything down, all that is left is profits and greed, regardless of consequences.

What he is doing here isn’t too less iressponsible then the Democrats behavior on the war. Motivated by differing reasons, but the result could be the same.

How so?

We’re in the middle of a fight to keep troops in Iraq to win this war, and this arrogant politician is once again
sounding off an issue that collapsed his support not too long ago. It has only started inching up again because he was back on Iraq. My advice to the President, not that he cares because it comes from this unpatriotic bigot, is to SHUT UP and STOP doing his damnest to isolate the only people on the side of staying to fight in Iraq.

Otherwise the Democrats might get what they want, if enough conservatives grow apathetic to supporting anything he does, even on the rare time he’s right these days.

I want to win this war and he isn’t helping by continuing this crusade to dissolve our borders.

We're going to have to seriously start considering the Impeachment of President Bush! I never thought I would feel this way about him. America can't afford to keep him for another 18 months. He's lost touch with reality. He's lost touch with American CITIZENS.

I'm sorry if that offends some of you Bush bots, but it's time you're going to have to face reality too. His global agenda is destroying America. He's going to push the SPP as hard, or harder than he has pushed amnesty too. By the time his presidency is over, America will no longer exist. Our Sovereignty will be lost.

He sure doesn't sound like he's going to pardon the two border guards either. That really blows too.
