Sen. Cardin (D-Md) Lying in Newsletter? Says Surge hasn't Increased Security....Help Me Respond
Ben Cardin's Newsletter ^ | July 23, 2007 | Ben Cardon

"All reports clearly indicate that the President’s “surge” strategy has not increased security in Iraq, it has not resulted in a political reconciliation and it has not resulted in the Iraqi military stepping up. Instead we’ve seen an increase in sectarian violence and a continued loss of American lives."

I know this language is wrong. 1) Not ALL reports CLEARLY indicate the surge has not increased security; in fact, aren't there reports showing increase security?; 2) Haven't Iraqis stepped up (aren't there more numbers and more recruits)?; 3) hasn't there been a decline in violence?

PLEASE HELP ME RESPOND TO THIS GUY WITH STATS AND LINKS. I'M GOING TO DEMAND HE RETRACT IT. THANKS!!

I believe the surge only started 3 - 4 weeks ago. Seems a bit premature to say it isn’t working.

Good luck. Cardin is a complete RAT tool. He's never had an original thought or idea in his life. However, he has the arrogance possessed by all the RAT politicians in Maryland. He thinks he can say or do anything he wants, and nobody he cares about (i.e., voters) will ever call him on it.

When one considers the nearly complete winning streak that the Democrat party has in this state, he is probably correct!

In related news:

Six weeks after D-Day, the American invasion of Europe has not increased security in Europe and has not resulted in a political reconciliation.

Instead we’ve seen an increase in violence and a continued loss of American lives

DimocRATS are making these comments because they fear that the “surge” is working and want to sabotage the present gains. They want to have our soldiers pulled out of Iraq before any long term gains are made. That way they can push their attack against conservatives and Republicans in a belief that they will obtain total control of our government.

Look here http://icasualties.org/oif/ and scroll down to Iraqi Security Forces and Civilian Deaths. Follow the link and you'll see that civilian deaths are definitely down. IMO this is due to our recently stepped up attacks on the terrorists. The next few months will tell the tale. I'm not very hopeful however. We're going too slowly and that gives them ample time to regroup and adopt new tactics. If they do, they'll then put on a maximum effort during the election season to help elect a Dem.

“maximum effort during the election season to help elect a Dem” Isn’t this ridiculous? How can it come to this? Jes. The least dems could do is not be the preferred party of terrorists. It can’t be too hard to vote for the guy the terrorists don’t want to win.
