The fact that he has a life outside of Washington is a big plus for me. It’s a great contrast to aging dinosaurs like Byrd, Kennedy, Stevens, Inouye, who are probably going to leave Congress only when they leave this Earth.

I’m aware of that, but I believe the term limits thing was a factor in his election in Tennessee. Even if his daughter had lived, he probably would have only done one more term IMHO.
He’s always saying he liked what George Washington did, got on his horse and rode out of town.
Thompson known Hillary Clinton, and what she’s capable of, probably better than almost anyone outside her inner circle. I would not be surprised if one of the deciding factors for him deciding to take a serious look at running in the spring was due to the fact that he didn’t see anyone else being capable of stopping her.
