A Palestinian was killed Thursday after he tried to stab a soldier near the Tekoa checkpoint, east of Bethlehem.
The soldier fired in the air after he was pushed to the ground by the Palestinian and then another soldier beat the assailant, reportedly with a stick.
The soldier who was attacked claimed that the Palestinian also tried to steal his rifle.
There were no casualties among the IDF soldiers.
The IDF attempted to treat the attacker at the scene and then transferred him to a Red Crescent crew at Eshkolit checkpoint. Despite attempts to resuscitate the man, identified by Palestinians as 21-year-old Jihad Sha'ar, he died of his wounds.
The IDF said that the soldier beat the Palestinian as opposed to firing at his lower body - as troops are instructed to do in such an incident - because he was scared of accidentally shooting his fellow soldier who was lying on the ground.
The army added that while the actions of the soldier were considered to be self-defense it was investigating the incident, specifically how many times the Palestinian was struck and whether the soldier used excessive force.
Meanwhile, a platoon commander in the Lavi Batallion was suspended from the IDF after his soldiers shot a passerby in the Dhahiriya refugee camp near the Hebron Hills.
The Palestinian died from wounds he received after he was evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba. The soldiers had apparently mistaken a spade he was holding for a gun before opening fire in his direction.
An initial investigation into the incident found that the shots were fired without any legitimate reason.
Also Thursday, undercover border policemen arrested an Islamic Jihad terror suspect near Jenin refugee camp and IDF troops arrested a senior Hamas operative near Ramallah.
“Palestinian attacker beaten to death”
Headlines like these bring a smile to my face.
"BAD, BAD PALESTINIAN!"
With a name like that, I'm just so sure his mother and father raised him to be a decent human being.
This will not set well w/ the Animalstinian-sympathy UN/Euro trash crowd.
Another happy ending.
Maybe they can apprehend the next one alive for questioning :)
BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Sweet!
I hope they attemtped resuscitation with a rake and a baseball bat.

A knife wielding terrorist attacks a soldier, rules of engagement instruct that.
The IDF said that the soldier beat the Palestinian as opposed to firing at his lower body - as troops are instructed to do in such an incident - because he was scared of accidentally shooting his fellow soldier who was lying on the ground.
I'll tell 'ya, if I held the plunger, he might get a puff or two of air, but it would cost him all his teeth and a couple of broken jaw bones at the very least.
Cannot believe the IDF is even considering a serious investigation of this incident. I mean, c'mon, these dogs want to kill, kill, kill. So what if a few of them are taken out once in a while in some kind of "unfair" fight? Give the boys a medal and forget about it.
Lol, you got me! How about cheekbones?
You know, sort of like Puffy in "Something About Mary." L

The correct number of times, it would appear. Although the "shooting them in the...er....lower extremeties" (spin-speak for shooting the fuzz off of the peaches, I hope) sounds like a snortin' good laugh! Then smear him with pig-fat and send him scootin' back across the border, u-u-lating two octaves higher than he was before! It will make many camels and goats breathe a sigh of relief...
I have more concern for beating dogs to death (Vick) than this scumbag dying. He wanted to be a martyr so more power to the Israelis in eliminating their sworn enemies.
