That’s a very good sign. Now if he’ll state his opposition to globalism, specifically the SPP and the North American Union, I’ll support him.

Fred Thompson is our real life "Obi Wan Kanobe".

I hope he does whats best for us all and joins the race, however at a reasonable time before the elections and not too early as the rest have.

Yeah, Yeah, Absolutely, Good to see you ???

THAT IS NO ANSWER !!

Goodness me.... He could claim later he was talking to someone else in the crowd. Until he says in Plain English AND in his Printed Direct Mail “I SUPPORT THE FAIR TAX”.

Yer Dreaming or Projecting hopes.

Besides, Bush said the same thing and was Governor of the 9th Largest Economy in the world which is funded BY a Sales Tax and NO Income Tax and he hasn’t done JACK about it.

Fred didn’t even KNOW what this was last week and today we get this 2 second quip?

Romney is more convincing IMHO !

Oh and just in case anyone didn’t get that last line...

/sarc/

= )

Well, I hate to be the wet blanket, I'm not even certain Fred was answering the FairTax question when he said "Yeah, absolutely."

I'm pro-Fred and pro-FairTax, but I'm not entirely convinced this was an actual endorsement.

As I near retirement, with substantial already-taxed savings on which under current law I would pay no more federal tax, I don’t much care for the so-called “Fair Tax” which would just tax it all over again.

P*ss on your “Fair” tax.

I font like the fair tax... never mind the idiotic ‘tax inclusixe’ argument.

The worst part is a ‘rebate’ at the end of the year for people who have low income. This would be a LARGE percentage of the population (a voting block) and it would be a fight for their votes every election by whoever promises them more.

How would you like to pay 25% or more sales tax at the cash register? they have something similar in canada called the GST and they HATE IT WITH A PASSION

They are hating their health care system too

I like flat tax with NO EXEMPTIONS

For clarification:

Is he in favor of the exact proposals currently before Congress?

If so, he lost my vote.

No way in heck will I approve of a 30% tax on everything I have saved.

Absolutely! Oh; how I love simple, clear, one word answers. Why must so many politicians dance around every policy question terrified of taking a position? Americans don’t demand that a Politician have the exact same position on every issue as they do, just that they know clearly what those positions are before they vote, and confidence that they will not change the moment the Politician gets into office.

I like the idea of the Fair Tax, especially if it is used in a way that makes legitimate food, rent, and real estate tax free.

I don’t know all of the details, so perhaps someone has an answer to my #1 concern about it. People who have saved money already paid tax on their savings when they earned it. How would the Fair Tax avoid taxing savings twice, particularly for people like my parents, whom are both retired and live off of their savings?

I wonder if Fred’s losing his eager following by holding back on his announcement.
