Wacky Wednesday

In Tucson, Arizona, Speedway is a main boulevard that traverses the city. While the speed limit is not unusually high, that has never stopped some local drivers from trying to force the roadway to live up to its name. Today was no different as anxious speeders hung on to the rear bumpers of law abiding drivers, sometimes weaving back and forth as if to indicate how much more important they are and how urgent it is for them to reach their destination before anyone else.

It almost seems like their plan is to make the speed limit drivers understand this reasoning so they would get off the road and just let them pass.Sometimes I do so but it's not for any reason they might think. It's because I believe they're insane and would like them to be far away from me! There will always be extreme speeders but does that mean the city should just give up and withdraw all police?

Today a phalanx of Tucson Police Officers had different ideas. There was no shortage of lawbreakers to cite as the TPD alternately spread out and grouped together, having much success in their mission. As I drove up (at a legal rate of speed) to Speedway and Wilson by the Tucson Recruitment Center at 7:00 am, they were already hard at work. I was there to support United States military troops and their mission of freedom for Iraq. Of late they have also been particularly successful.

In fact, recently captured Al-Qaeda leader Khalid Abdul Fatah Daud Mahmud al-Mashadaniwas was so new to his job he spilled the beans immediately about how terrorist leaders have been fooling Iraqis into thinking radical groups were local in order to foment rebellion against the government. Actually foreign instigators posing as Iraqi groups often initiate terrorist activities in Iraq. The reason the enemy leader was so green is that most terrorist leaders don't live free in Iraq for very long these days, thanks to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and their Iraqi brothers in arms.

But innocent Iraqi citizens aren't the only ones being duped in the world, as I was soon to find out. As the muggy day progressed, (it had rained last night) an "anti-war" protester nicknamed "Semper Fraud" by the Pro-Americans appeared as usual to take up his stand amongst us. Semper, who calls himself an "ex-Marine," explained to me that his dedication in showing up was due to innocent children in Iraq being killed by our troops.

"Do you believe our troops kill children deliberately?" I asked. He said yes and that he himself had killed two children in the Vietnam War.

"On purpose?" I asked. He said no, it was an accident and proceeded to tell me his account of what happened. He was in a big battle that was falsely reported by the Department of Defense and fired some mortars. Later someone came to him with a mortar fragment and said "a mortar round with this number killed two children!" He checked his paperwork and yes, indeed it was his mortar round that killed those children!

Years later he went back to Vietnam for a visit to the scene of the battle when a man described how his siblings were killed by a mortar. Semper Fraud soon realized this was the brother of the children he himself had killed! I interrupted him: "Do you think I actually believe any of this?" I inquired. "Well, it's my story," he replied. I explained that the yarn was too fantastic and fit the mold of fraudulent war stories debunked in the book "Stolen Valor," by B.G. Burkett and Glenna Whitley. He had nothing more to say about it after that.

Before moving on, I asked again to make sure Mr. Fraud really did think our military troops kill children on purpose. I just couldn't believe it. Amazingly, he still did and brushed aside my claims that Saddam Hussein was the one doing the child killing. This has actually been proven by children's bodies found in the mass graves of pre-war Iraq. No such evidence has ever been found of American troops doing anything of the sort!

As usual, people in the passing cars and trucks were all honking and waving for the flag draped Pro-American side of the street. Across the boulevard was a known World Can't Wait protester with a crudely lettered "Impeach the Liars Cheney and Bush" sign whom I silently named Comrade X. Near him were Conspiracy Person, (AKA "Chomski"), a woman with a descrated American flag and another helping hold her banner. I decided to cross the street to counter their signs. A Pro-American was already before them in traffic with a "Bin Ladin Loves Lefties" sign, so I decided to bracket the "moonbats" by going to the other side of them.

When I got past the group, though, Conspiracy Person wanted to discuss some theories. I was curious about a few things, so I decided to stay near and find out some opinions. Besides, it was a good opportunity to display my sign with "Don't Believe Left-Wing Propaganda and Lies" next to them. "Do all you guys believe 9/11 was an inside job?" I asked innocently.

"You called me a guy! I don't accept that male-domination dichotomy," cried the Veterans for Peace banner woman with the desecrated American flag while pointing an accusing finger in my direction. It took a while to calm down all that excitement but I finally got the answer that the two women were not necessarily believers but had open minds. As the conversation progressed, however, it became obvious they knew about and believed in all the 9/11 inside job points because they defended them so vigorously.

For instance, the desecrated flag woman agreed it was probable the 9/11 jetliners were controlled by robots and hinted she should know about that (she claims to be an Air Force retiree.) All three postulated that the cell phone calls from the hijacked aircraft were faked and people thought to be killed in the planes were most likely living the good life on some tropical island. They tried to convince me that the buildings fell in an unusual way and building seven should not have fallen but I kept responding with the reply that too many scientists and engineers disagreed with those theories for them to be conclusive in my mind.

I asked them if they believed the United States landed on the moon or was that also a hoax? The ladies had no comment but Conspiracy Person was suspicious that the landings had been faked. We all exchanged book titles and websites and discussed genocide by various governments. It was my contention that Marxists are more genocidal than any other government, while they believe America to be the worst. While the ladies denied they were Communists they had a lot to say against imperialists, capitalists and corporations. They were also very upset that the labor movement had been oppressed in the history of America. I forgot to ask if they were members of Code Pink but I think the two women probably are. Unusually, all three were also against most Democrats including Gabrielle Giffords and even Bill Clinton due to his war actions.

I kept saying "you guys" by mistake and had to apologize after dire looks by the desecrated flag woman, but I caught the woman helping with the banner doing it, too. Finally Comrade X came by to leave and shook hands all around, including with me. "See ya later, Comrade!" I smiled, pointing out to the rest of the group when they objected that World Can't Wait was a front group for the "Revolutionary Communist Party." Conspiracy Person admitted WCW was started by Communists but said a lot of different groups were in it. When I asked if they would allow Nazi's then, they were silent. Conspiracy Person wanted me to go to a meeting where a World Trade Center 9/11 survivor would claim he heard explosions IN THE BASEMENT, explaining it was his dream to convert me to the conspiratorial point of view.

"Well, that was a nice discussion," I said politely as I left, making no promises to attend.

"It made my stomach hurt," replied the woman helping with the banner, grimacing as if to prove her point. After I crossed the street I had a few laughs with the 8-10 people who came to support America. They had a much happier attitude. There were only 5 moonbats, which has been the norm for some time. As I saw the woman with the stomachache leaving I picked up the donated UN flag we had been using as a doormat and showed it to her from across Speedway Boulevard. Then I threw it on the ground and jumped on it, finally picking the UN emblem and pretending to sneeze in it. She stared with quite a look of shock on her face. If I remember right she has held a UN flag while attending at least one protest earlier this year!

As our successes in Iraq increase due to the surge, so does desperation on the part of the left to discredit President Bush and America. Newspapers and TV News with few exceptions are bringing out even more slanted stories to make the Iraq war seem like a "quagmire." They do it to bolster ever-arguing, ever-surrendering Democrat politicians who will go to any lengths to give in to terrorists. Meanwhile, we Pro-Americans must all do our part to overcome their pessimistic propaganda. Here is one way to help: print out articles with stories of military success from the American Forces Information Service News Article web page. Give them to people, post them on bulletin boards and leave them on car windshields. Let's support our victorious troops and oppose left-wing craziness and surrendering Democrats. Later might be too late. Now is the time to stand up for America!

Here are some extra items for the Free Republic.

1. I think the cloudy day kept a lot of people away. Also, now that some Pro-Americans see how successful we are they don't come as often. Should moonbats increase to their former numbers, however, the Pro-Americans would rise again as well.

2. Usually Revolutionary Communist Party does the big Fall protest here through their front group World Can't Wait but I have heard rumors that Communist Party USA is going to pre-empt them through their local front group known as Tucson Peace Action Coalition with an earlier fall event just before theirs. That's not going to help World Can't Wait, especially since public school officials here are now on to their plans to get middle and high school students to ditch classes and go to the protest. I predict World Can't Wait's Fall protest will drop from last year's 100 mark to about 60 people. I also will guess that their website, which claimed 700 for last year, will say 1,000 attended!

3. I also predict Communist Party USA's pre-emptive fall protest will be a big let-down for them as news of Iraq surge successes smash their way past liberal news media censorship.

4. I wish I would have remembered to ask those women if they were in Code Pink because that would have been good to ask how they could be "against Communism" and be in Code Pink? Of course, they tried to make the claim that the Soviet Union wasn't really Communism but I responded as usual by pointing out that every school in the USSR forced everyone to learn about Marxism. They had the Marxist-Leninist Institute in Moscow. If they couldn't figure out how to make Marxism work after all that, chances are nobody can!

5. Let's all give a warm welcome to new FReeper NinjaNerd who happens to be my nephew. He will be reporting for Marine Basic in San Diego this September which makes our family very proud!

WELCOME TO FREE REPUBLIC!!

You are following in the foot steps of a real good uncle. I've been reading his AARs since getting onto FR and he has inspired us here in Olney, Maryland. Of course his photoshopping is a great asset to the Olney threads.

Thanks for the AAR and pics.

And you are right about the good news from Iraq ‘slipping’ into the MSM. There is so much good news that they can’t ignore it. The surge is working. I hope it is too late for the Rats to try to cut ‘n run and they stop their antics.

Their antics may be good to get some good conservatives elected the next cycle, but it is hell on our troops.

Please tell the colonel ‘Semper Fi’ from an admirer.

I’ve tried to get my brother, also a retired Marine colonel, to get out in NC, but he says that he can’t. The moonbats get him so upset he is concerned about his reaction to seeing the idiots face to face.

Great news that your nephew, NinjaNerd, has joined you.

You sound like one of those mini-van-driving members of the Anti-Destination League.

You think it's your responsibility to enforce the speed limit?

Be armed the next time you run across “Near him were Conspiracy Person, (AKA “Chomski”), a woman with a descrated American flag and another helping hold her banner.”

Find a Tucson Cop or better yet AZ State trooper and show them this from http://www.azleg.state.az.us/formatdocument.asp?indoc=/ars/13/03703.htm&title=13&d...

Looks like I touched a nerve. Where did I say that? I said I pull over to let them go on so they can be farther away from me! That's not enforcing the speed limit.

Sorry you didn't get the point about surrendering.

I received an email from the 9/11 Conspiracy Sign Holder - he prefers to be nicknamed Conspiracy Man rather than "Person." I can dig that, man. I have updated the column on AmericanProtest.net.

Also, I spelled Chomksy wrong. Also updated. (Conspiracy Man was originally nicknamed "Chomsky" because he was reading a book by Chomsky while protesting once. However, he pointed out that he is more into 911 conspiracy and, though Noam Chomsky has done admirable work in the past, he has not participated in the 9/11 truth movement.)

Interestingly, Hugo Chavez held up a copy of a Noam Chomsky book while calling President Bush a "devil" at the UN. Not to say that Conspiracy Man is a Communist because he says he is against that (although he does protest with World Can't Wait.) I just mention it to show that anti-USA propaganda can spread to many places.

Conspiracy Man also re-iterated that he does not know one way or the other if the moon landings were real or fake (which to me denotes suspicion) and he did not agree with the plane passengers / tropical island theory which had actually been voiced by the two women. However, he did not say what he believes did allegedly happen to them.

I think the 911 "truthers" in Tucson are avid readers of Free Republic because they have several giant "Mother of all Banners" proclaiming 911 'Truth'" which they recently brought out at a Tucson protest. Except they used stencils to paint the letters.
