US braced for bloody pull-out-(Gates.to Clinton,".such planning is indeed taking place")

AT THE Army College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Major Daniel Morgan is studying the lessons for Iraq of the Soviets’ chaotic exit from Afghanistan in the late 1980s. The roads were choked with tanks and heavy weaponry, making the demoralised soldiers easy prey for guerillas.

“The Soviet Army actually had to fight out of certain areas,” said Morgan, who has served twice in Iraq.

There is no easy exit from Iraq, but defence secretary Robert Gates has admitted for the first time that the Pentagon is poring over the options. Under pressure from Hillary Clinton, the senator for New York, defence officials are to give a “closed door” briefing to the Senate Armed Services Committee this week about US troop withdrawals.

“You may rest assured,” Gates wrote to Clinton, “that such planning is indeed taking place with my active involvement.”

If we pull out of IRAQ, even if Congress overrides a VETO to cut off funding, it will rest forever on the President and Commander-in-Chief's shoulders.

No one will blame Congress.

The Pentagon plans for everything for petes sake...

Yes, but they don't announce it in a public love letter to a traitorous (progressive) Marxist.

Visualize a world in which no one would obey such an order.

I am afraid the coming responsibility lies far closer to home than some would like, and cannot all be pushed off onto nefarious liberals.

They plan for everything all the time.

Exactly right - Here is another example of the MSM trying to spin / lie to the American public ....By spinning "the news" in a manner that looks negative -

SecDef Gates played this very weak Vs Senator Clinton. He should have told her to pound sand publicly (and privately told her with clearance she could see the variety of contingency plans that are constantly changing).

Gates is a total wimp. Why Bush appointed him is beyond reason.

So let's resolve, here and now, not to obey traitors and follow them into treason and defeat.

I know that you are right... I know that the surge is working...This is the part that I think is trouble

" Under pressure from Hillary Clinton, the senator for New York, defence officials are to give a “closed door” briefing to the Senate Armed Services Committee this week about US troop withdrawals"

This briefing is going to get leaked all over by DBM this week with the point being that the pentagon is planning a withdrawl from Iraq... Game...

It would be incompetent of the American military to have one contingency plan to deal with a total failure in the Congress of the United States. If the "who cares who dies" people in Congress manage to succeed legislatively, the military will need to get its people out, alive.

If a general wrote to Hillary! about this, I hope he wrote this: "If your insane ideas succeed in Congress, yes, we have plans to get American soldiers with a minimum number of casualties as a result of your ideas." But if he did, the NY Times would never report that honestly.

The US military plans for many possible turns of events.

For instance, I heard they have a plan for global cooling; and for global warming.

The plan for global cooling assumes China would attack Russia, for natural gass, to keep warm.

We have more than enough firepower on our side to counter this tactic. Talk Radio and us folks on the Internet won't let the moldy old media (or moldia™, as I like to call them) get away with it.

Sure, the dems are trying to re-live their glory days of Vietnam. They think they've got what it takes to turn Iraq into Vietnam Part Deux. But they've got a severe blind spot when it comes to how much has changed between Vietnam and Iraq. The most important change is that their lapdog media no longer has a monopoly on what Americans are allowed to hear. Yup, we may suffer the leaks from this meeting, but we will quickly answer it. I wouldn't be surprised if Rush and Hugh are already working on the answer right now.

It's actually a jab: her thighness may 'rest assured'.

Texas A&M boys don't bow down before butch megalomanic divas who want to see US defense ripped to shreds.

I think this is just some foreign journalist sucking up to Hillary.
