Americans hate freedom.
No, the first step should be to up the level of surveillance on each and every politician, at every level of government. Put them under the microscope 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“....up the level of surveillance on each and every politician”
Certainly would encourage term limits and foster “public service”........
The first thing that happens to folks recording cops on voice or video is they get beat up. Then they get arrested.
It's worse than that. They fear it.
They like this idea ... but freaked out when google didn’t their webcam street shots ??
Do you really believe those figures? Or, does someone have an agenda to push? I’m not sure what to believe - but it’s usually a safe bet to assume some sort of scam.
It is really amazing that some people that come here to discuss freedom and liberty, would say such things.
Fine, lets assign a little UAV camera drone to follow you around 24/7. Every where you go, and everything you do will be recorded and digested for possible violations of; what ever the crime du jour (subject to change w/out notice) as defined by the enlightened elites and masters in DC and your local Statehouse.
Yes siree, step right up and get your government mandated tracking chip, so the drones can pick your single and track your movements.
Hey, if you have nothing to hide, right?
Think I'm being overly dramatic? Hey, you want to give them an inch; you can damn sure bet they'll take a mile.
It never takes long for the "If you have nothing to hide, why object to constant surveillance?" crowd to show up.
It appears that Americans, by a 3-to-1 margin, are dumber than fenceposts. I can now understand how Hitler gained popularity in Germany in the '30's - people, and especially poorly-informed people are lemmings.
BTW, one thing I've wondered about those: if someone runs a red light before the opposing signal has turned green, does the system delay the opposing signal? If not, how can one argue with a straight face that the cameras are for "safety"?
That clears it up nicely....
I have no idea if the figures are correct, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Too many Americans can’t see past the end of their noses when it comes to public policy.
I do know that red-light cameras are being implemented across the country with little/no objection from the public despite the scandals associated with their use. And, I know that the numbers of surveillance cameras already located in the UK can hardly be counted, with little public opposition. Of course, much of the public isn’t literate enough to comprehend “1984”, so it’s to be expected.
Sheep begging to be led to the slaughter.
I’m no longer surprised by my fellow Americans. By the time they realize they have given the government too much power and too many tools, it’ll be too late. It won’t affect us, but the grandchildren of our grandchildren, they’ll look back and blame us (they’ll have to do it privately of course).
