Justice John Roberts had seizure
Fox News Channel

Posted on 07/30/2007 2:48:44 PM PDT by GOP_Proud

Just heard it on John Gibson's Big Story. I hope I'm wrong but that's how I heard it.

Agreed LP.

Many are looking for updates. Gibson mentioned it was being reported locally.

Because he doesn’t have the facts, it was something mentioned in editorial commentary, and he’s not even sure what he heard.

There is no current news report reflecting such a rumor.

Sorry to offend you. I was pretty certain that he said that the justice had a seizure, but I had just turned the TV on. I had heard about the fall he took on the radio on the way home. It seemed to fit at the time. The only reason I became unsure was that there was no follow-up.

If I am wrong I will accept your wrath with a smile because to be wrong on this issue would feel really good.

I vote on keeping him in place - REGARDLESS of his injury.

Justice Bernie...weekend at the Supreme Court.

It's that time of year. People are outside, exerting themselves in the heat, changing their pH and their levels of hydration from one state to another rapidly.

It's easy to overheat and fall down.

Even young soldiers in formations on 100 degree afternoons can fall over backwards and as they fall they see the sky apparantly dragging itself to the ground, and then their heads bang the ground and they wake up in the aid tent.

Yup, happens all the time.

I heard Gibson saying it was being reported locally.

Posting the thread could bring credence to the story from local Freepers, or they could refute it.

He is just bringing the story to light.

Because you don’t create an alarmist headline based on unsubstantiated gossip. He could have mentioned it in an ongoing discussion about the Chief Justice, instead of creating a panic based on likely misinformation.

"Is that common?"

I'm hardly an expert but I had a family member that would seizure if they got dehydrated.

They had zillions of tests and everything came up fine, the doctor just said it was congential, no big deal and simply not let them get dehydrated.

He further said that while they looked scary as all get out if and of themselves they weren't dangerous unless you fell or were driving a car.

News is now reporting they don’t know if the fall caused the seizure or the seizure caused the fall but all are reporting grand mal...

So irresponsible is reporting no seizure at all, when freepers usually hear and or get info before media reports anything.....

WASHINGTON (AP) - Chief Justice John Roberts was taken by ambulance to a hospital on Monday after a fall on a dock near his summer home in Maine.
Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said she did not know how he fell or what injuries he might have suffered. She said he was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Roberts, 52, bought a home last year in Port Clyde on Maine’s Hupper Island. Port Clyde, which is part of the town of St. George, is about 90 miles by car northeast of Portland, midway up the coast of Maine.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. EDT, said St. George Fire Chief Tim Polky. Roberts was taken by private boat to the mainland and then transferred to an ambulance, Polky said.

“He was conscious and alert when they put him in the rescue (vehicle) and took him to Penobscot Bay Medical Center,” Polky said. A spokesman at the Rockport hospital did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press.

Named to the court by President Bush in 2005, Roberts is the youngest justice on a court in which the senior member, John Paul Stevens, is 87. Bush was informed of the hospitalization by his chief of staff, Josh Bolten, the White House said.

Roberts is the father of two young children.

He became chief justice after the death of William Rehnquist in September 2005, although Bush had first chosen him to take Sandra Day O’Connor’s seat when she announced her retirement earlier that year.

He had served as an appellate judge in Washington and spent more than a decade before that as a lawyer at the Hogan and Hartson law firm, where he specialized in arguing cases before the Supreme Court.

Roberts also served in the Reagan and Bush administrations in the and ‘90s. He was a clerk for Rehnquist after graduating from Harvard Law School.

Roberts spent a couple of weeks in Europe in July, teaching a course in Vienna and attending a conference in Paris. He was at the court in Washington late last week.

Associated Press writer David Sharp in Portland, Maine, contributed to this story.

Jim Angle on Special Report is reporting it as so. Gran mal seizure. They don’t know if it was before or after fall.

Justice Roberts could lose 75% of his brain’s function, and STILL be a better man than anyone a leftist would nominate...

Damn right. And from the biographical information I've read, Thurgood Marshall's faculties were pretty damn weak for the last 10 years or so of his tenure--and his "aides" pretty much did his thinking for him.

In fact, I would say a combined "flat line" brain wave from Scailia, Thomas, Roberts and Alito would STILL have about 5 to 10 times the intellectual capacity of Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg.

Then why are you even posting it here?

I agree. There's threads already going about his fall ... post it there as a comment rather than give it a headline without mention that it's a vanity. You sourced it to Fox News Channel with no link, and you're not even sure of what you heard.

I don't meant to beat a dead horse, but this seems like an over-excited reaction to something you may or may not have heard.

I just think you were a bit premature and under informed to start an entire thread.

All of us listening to fox news just heard Brit Hume report on the before or after grand mal seizure about 2 minutes before your post so now all you posting police can take it up with Brit Hume.

I heard the same thing. Many people have seizures. No need to get all excited at this point.

I have a sister in law that had several grand mal seizures in her younger years.

Hasn’t had one since.
