Of course, that’s assuming a democrat wins the White House next year. How long can those two oldsters “hang on” when Fred Thompson will probably serve eight years as president?

A quick toss of a banana peel in John Paul and Ruth’s path would take care of this little problem.

I sure hope that the GoP metes out as much resistance on judges as the Dems did, if Hillary gets elected.

The latest Poll shows Supreme Ct has 40% Good/Excellent; 35% Fair and 23% Poor ratings. Schumer is a hack..!

It never ceases to amaze me how liberals
presume that everything must stay the way it is - that is is natural for the court to lean in their favor and that for it to go the other way is unnatural and must be stopped.
If Stevens retires or dies, then naturally he must be replaced with someone liberal like he is - there can be no other choice. Unbelievable!

I didn’t realize Stevens was 87, you would think he would have retired long ago. There was a Republican mistake appointing him, before my time but Ford surely messed up with him. Schumer will do a “weekend at bernies” on Stevens if he has to, in order to keep abortion legal. Shoomy is scared to death Bush will get another appointee and end this dark stain on our nation’s conscience.

What I don’t understand is that Schumer has a problem with Ginsberg. I thought she was his type.

i’m more than than tired of democraps that are constantly working against the united states.
at the same time i’m tired of defending republicans that don’t seem to have the will to stand up for themselves.

Schumer says that he regrets the confirmation of Alito to the Supreme Court, since his replacement of retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor has tipped the Court's precarious 5-4 split more towards the conservative side. Schumer called it one of the "greatest failings" of his career as a senator and claimed President Bush "hoodwinked" Senate Democrats into allowing a vote on Alito. This is actually a pretty fascinating admission by one of the lead Democrat junkyard dogs that Bush, the alleged moron of the WH, misled the brilliant thinkers on the left!!
It is to laugh!! Notice how Democrats are increasingly becoming the "do-over" party!!???

Schumer lies. He knew who Roberts and Alito were, and couldn’t find an excuse or the votes to block them. He doesn’t want balance, he wants nine Ginsburgs. If it wasn’t for demagoguery, he wouldn’t have a job.

Schumer is proposing that the Constitution simply be ignored when there's a chance to play personal politics.
People like Chuckey should not be allowed to participate in public life ~ send him back.

Umm, Mr. Schumer, can you please cite the Constitutional basis or historical precedent for attempting to maintain some ideological balance in the Supreme Court? Or are you just a hyper-partisan hack with no substantive ideas whatsoever?
